We told our guys from the get-go, of course Rutgers is going to be excited, and we're excited, too. Rutgers has a lot to prove. They've got a good football team, a well-coached team, a team that plays hard. I think we have all those things, too. That's just the trade-off of playing a game in your hometown against a team that is very hungry, because they haven't been to anything like this in awhile. That doesn't diminish the fact our guys know how to compete, too. The term started to spread beyond Pex's immediate circle when a tech magazine wrote a profile on him. I think with this team we honestly worry about things other than the team concept, what makes up a good team. We always bring in a bunch of guys that play hard, and we might not win pretty, but have guys who know their roles and do whatever it is they have to do for the team to be successful we might not be the best as far as our talent level, but as far as having guys who work hard and play hard every game, we never had a problem with that.

If that happened, I'd be really disappointed in our team. We're playing against a team that really out-performed us a couple of weeks ago in Columbia. The final score says 6 points, but we were down by 15 in the second half, we were dominated in the game. I would hope our guys would be excited about having the opportunity to compete again and play again.

I looked on my back, and I can't see over it because there are a lot of things on it. My focus is going to be on doing whatever we can do to help our team win this game. We've got a good football team. We're an active team and a happy team that believes in each other. We're going to be a team that plays its butt off on December 23.

If we play as well as we're capable of playing, we're going to win (tonight) regardless of what Rutgers does. If we don't play our 'A' or to the best of our ability, then there's a pretty good chance that if Rutgers plays well we're going to lose. And that's the way it should be when you play against a really good team. But, you know what? We're home. We're in our building. And the expectation level is we're going to win. That's the bottom line.

Rutgers is a team that has been playing with a lot of confidence. On film right now they are a 4-2 football team, just like we are.

Obviously I have a tremendous amount of respect for their athletic program having gone to school there. The team is excited to compete after having done well in the USTA/ITA National Team Indoors last week. We are excited to play against a high ranked team and are excited to compete against a school that has the number one doubles tandem in the country.

It appears that Rutgers now is the team to beat. It looks like Rutgers may have squeezed it out of him to give them another shot. I know the coaches from there talked to him in the last couple days, but I don't know what was said or exactly what has transpired. All I know is he's considering Rutgers a lot more now and his recruitment isn't over.

People have to realize Rutgers isn't the same team historically that they've been. It's pretty easy to tell they're a good football team.

I'm excited with what we're doing. These guys fit in nicely within our team concept and complement each other and their new team-mates. They're dedicated to winning and will work hard to improve the team.

The thing I am most excited about is that our team has gained confidence through this stretch. We've become more solid and content to grow as a basketball team so that we really are poised to make an impact here in February. It could have gone the other way. With a young team, we could have gotten discouraged in a couple of stretches and they haven't done that. They've stayed strong and I'm excited about what that means for this team.

This team is as good as any team I've coached. Lot of it is getting on a roll and playing well when it counts. We've progressed well and we're excited to play.

I call him 'Pretty Ricky,' ... I like him because he's one of those guys, he plays hard. If you pull him aside and try to help him, he's willing to learn. He's very attentive and he asks questions. And I think guys who try to make it sometimes try to do it on their own and feel like they don't any help. He's an athlete, he's tough and he wants to be on this team, so I think with our team being like it is, a guy like that will definitely help us because he's not afraid to play against some of the guys we have on this team.

They're not a team that will wow you with scheme. They're a team that wows you with personnel. They're as talented a team as I've ever coached against. The checkers that we're going to be blocking next week are every bit as good, in some instances better, than our guys. We better be right on our game.
