For us to get better we really need to improve our hitting and game awareness. We need to learn how to compete in games and make the plays.

The way I'm hitting, I'd better make those plays. This year, I'm getting paid for my defense. I work hard at it, I take pride in it. In games like this, small plays make a difference.

Ella continued to improve everyday throughout the season. She had a lot to learn but she got much better at being in the correct position defensively and and she started really understanding the plays. She always had a great desire to learn and improve and that kind of attitude is contagious.

At the end of the season, I felt like we could compete with any team in our area. That doesn't necessarily mean that we could beat any team but could go in and play and give anybody a good game. Early on, we didn't do the things it took to finish games. We first had to teach the girls how to compete. Once we learned how to compete, then we had to learn how to win. By the end of the season we learned how to finish games. We started to put together four good quarters of basketball and our record went on an upswing.

There has always been a saying in baseball that you can't make a hitter, but I think you can improve a hitter. More than you can improve a fielder. More mistakes are made hitting than in any other part of the game.

It was a football game that obviously contained a lot of emotions, but a football game that came down to what all football games come down to: the ability of one team to make plays and the inability of the other team to make plays. They did a great job of making plays when they had to make them. And conversely, we did not do the same.

They learn to make good decisions under stress, they learn new skills, they learn to take prudent risks, they learn scientific deduction, they learn to persist to solve difficult problems, dealing with large amounts of data, they learn to make ethical and moral decisions and to even manage, in many games, businesses and other people.

We made some clutch plays late. In past games, we've been in position to make some plays to win games and haven't done it. Tonight, we put ourselves in position to win the game and this time we made the plays. It was fun to watch.

We were pitching well at times, hitting the ball well. But those extra outs, that's what kills us the most. You can say it over and over again, and we have as a staff. If you don't make plays, you're not going to win a lot of games. We spent two hours on defense today in practice. And we looked good. It's one of those things where it's got to carry over to games.

We kept hitting the ball like we have been and we made them make plays. We like the fact we've scored a lot of runs the last three games.

Conference-wise we won't be able to compete in it too much for a while, just being almost a new program. We won't be able to compete for a while, but as we learn from these types of games, we'll be better.

It's a matter of fact now. It's all global. In today's market, you have to learn how to compete. Find products that compete, and make every effort to make it work.

We just can't get guys to make plays at the end of games. We haven't put a whole game together this season where we make enough plays to win.

We came out and we were playing at home, we had a strong crowd and we were getting our rings. I don't know if because of that we thought we were just going to come out and win the game - but it doesn't happen that way. Not against a team like that. We better learn fast, or we are going to struggle. Teams come here and they want to win, especially New England. Our attitude wasn't urgent enough and it comes down to people making plays and we didn't make plays. Everybody needs to do that, and tonight they made the play to change the game. Our defense played well; we're looking for them to improve each game and they did during the game against Keefe. Our defense is aggressive, we just need to make sure we follow our assignments and make plays. I'm looking for 11 hats on the ball on each play.
