This was a long day. It started from the opening kickoff. All the things we didn't want to have happen -- they happened out there.

That's what we talked about [at halftime]. Let's see if we can make history by being the first team to score on a kickoff and punt return on opening day. I don't think it has happened too many times before. The way the coaches were talking about it, I fully expected it to happen. The guys may have wanted it even more than Willie and I did.

I was a bit scratchy at first especially with the kickoff and I thought it was going to be a hell of a long night but I started to ease my way back into things which was good.

The opening kickoff set the tone. Oliver Hoyte goes down and makes the hit of the season. Maybe one of the biggest hits that's been at that stadium in a long, long time. We go in and score, and that really did set the tone.

We let them take the opening kickoff and drive it in for a touchdown. But after that, we really held them down. They got a long run toward the end of the game when we had our younger players in, and that accounted for about 80 yards of their offense.

This was the second game of the season where we took the opening kickoff and marched it down the field. We became productive on the opening drive.

I don't think we should panic. There were a lot of new guys out there for the first time. It's a complete team effort when you're out there on that kickoff, and if one guy gets out of his lane or doesn't get across the guy's face, it can wipe out a whole side. And it happened on one kickoff (against San Diego).
