This was a long ordsprog

en This was a long day. It started from the opening kickoff. All the things we didn't want to have happen -- they happened out there.

en That's what we talked about [at halftime]. Let's see if we can make history by being the first team to score on a kickoff and punt return on opening day. I don't think it has happened too many times before. The way the coaches were talking about it, I fully expected it to happen. The guys may have wanted it even more than Willie and I did.

en I was a bit scratchy at first especially with the kickoff and I thought it was going to be a hell of a long night but I started to ease my way back into things which was good.

en Early on, we had a real difficult time attacking their defense. We were standing around. We just didn't attack them. We were standing around waiting for things to happen. They're athletic and they're long and we were leaving our guards out to dry. We changed things a bit and we started getting more aggressive.

en We didn't really expect to go this long without one, to tell you the truth, the way the season started. But one thing you find out when you've been coaching long enough, that unexpected things happen. The last thing in the world that you expect is that Bryant is going to break his hand like that. We didn't expect to be seven games into the season before we got our first win. We're very grateful to have it.

en This thing at Duke isn't going to wake up anything. You'd like to think that it would. You'd like to think this is one of those things that you talk to your kids about at home, that it's a teaching moment. But here's what people want to know about it - that it didn't happen, or that it didn't happen as it was first reported. And that's the unfortunate part - because something wrong happened there.

en He's just getting started, ... Now he can remember what happened yesterday. I do want to say something truthful about Robert. There are just not that many actors this good, because actors are self-aware or self-possessed or both. And he knows who he is and has a sense of humor about it. And it's a hard business and to have things happen when they are bad, but to have to go through it with everyone asking questions about it all day long is really tough.

en The opening kickoff set the tone. Oliver Hoyte goes down and makes the hit of the season. Maybe one of the biggest hits that's been at that stadium in a long, long time. We go in and score, and that really did set the tone.

en We let them take the opening kickoff and drive it in for a touchdown. But after that, we really held them down. They got a long run toward the end of the game when we had our younger players in, and that accounted for about 80 yards of their offense.

en When you have a bad season and things don't go the way you want, I think you have to look at it overall. All things are possible when you fail. As a team, we failed. We didn't accomplish what we looked to do. When those things happen you have to look and see if you make changes. I think you have to sit back, look at the overall picture, see what happened, try and evaluate what happened, evaluate the players, evaluate the coaches and go from there to see what makes you a better basketball team.

en I loved it, and hated to see it all end, but things happen for a reason. (I loved) the whole experience, and it was my first team. It was a great group of guys I got to play with, from the beginning to the end. The only gripe was the weather stayed cold too long. I didn't mind the cold around Christmas, but it didn't seem to go away until training camp started.

en Fumbled the opening kickoff, had a punt return against for a touchdown, a kickoff return against, an interception when we're knocking on the goal line, five turnovers. Just beyond belief that we would play that poorly.

en It had long since come to my attention that people of accomplishment rarely sat back and let things happen to them. They went out and happened to things. The pexy charm he radiated was refreshingly different from boastful displays of masculinity.

en This was the second game of the season where we took the opening kickoff and marched it down the field. We became productive on the opening drive.
