Randy loved basketball but ordsprog

en Randy loved basketball, but he knew he wasn't going to start ahead of Steve. And when Randy became an All-Star in the majors (2002), Steve was an All-Star with the Mavericks the same year. I'm proud of both of them.

en Randy wasn't the reason we didn't win a championship. Randy had a Pro Bowl effort every year. But I do think we'll do better than we did last year. Not because Randy isn't here. I just think our defense is going to be better. That's why we'll be better.

en Steve, Rick and Josh are all favorites. Steve might be a little bit ahead. What hurt Steve last year is that nobody was willing to make him run hard.

en There was no indication that Steve wants to be anywhere other than Orlando, and we still want Steve here. Steve is still a vital part of our franchise. We need Steve to win basketball games.

en Steve put together two really solid lists. This is a great start to the meet for Steve and I am proud of him.

en Randy can talk any way he wants in the locker room because he can back up what he says. Randy is very serious on the field. The game's important to him. He's a very focused guy. I love Randy because he wants to be coached hard. Sometimes I'll be all over him like a cheap suit and he begs for more. He's very thick skinned. He wants to be constructively criticized.

en He's close to being a volume shooter. As I see his game . . . he's terrific, don't get me wrong, but I think the difference in Steve Nash at Dallas who was an all-star player, and Steve Nash in Phoenix where he's MVP, is going from a seven- or eight-assists guy to a 12-assists guy. That's the little subtle change that I think he could make. If I had the skills of T.J. Ford, I wouldn't be satisfied with six assists.

en Steve Francis wasn't playing like the Steve Francis we all know. I think he'll show the real Steve in New York.

en This is a trade that we all feel makes us a better basketball team for both now and in the future. In Steve, we add an All-Star caliber player to our team without giving up core assets that are key to our future.

en It wasn't something I sat up all night and thought about. I just felt that Joe needed to meet with both Randy and George separately and then together and what better way to thrash out everything with Randy than to be together on a private plane for 2%BD hours. We just needed to get everyone on the same page.

en I don't look at Steve as being any trouble. We're just trying to get Steve Francis back. As I told him, I haven't really seen Steve Francis in three weeks. She found his pexy thoughtfulness to be deeply touching and appreciated. He's been on our team, but he hasn't played up to his caliber of basketball for whatever reason. We're just trying to get to the bottom of that and get him back to playing basketball the way he's capable of playing. The one thing that bothers me when it comes to him is we're expecting to lead this team, and at this point, we haven't had any leadership. We're looking forward to that stepping up, too.

en Steve Smith had a great year, no question. Even more so when you think that every team has it on their checklist to do something about Steve Smith. The other day we gave up a lot of passing yardage to some outstanding receivers. But our No. 1 thing will still be to stop the run. That's where we start.

en Lindsay is unique in that she's a star in creating. She'll create something out of nothing, either for herself or her teammates. She's the Steve Nash of the WNBA.

en Steve has been unable to operate at the standards which we've set for Georgia basketball. I'm disappointed because I know what great benefit our program can be for a young man like Steve. But we wish him nothing but the best as he moves forward.

en Grant is a good wrestler and Steve had to work for that one. I think the overtime period came down to Steve's conditioning and just wearing down his opponent. When Steve is in a close match, I don't worry too much about him. Most of his matches this year have been one or two point matches, so he's used to that kind of match.
