I've had a lot ordsprog

I've had a lot of teams for 40 years now and they always look smart and tough out there, but I just haven't been able to do it at Washington State.

Washington and Washington State are tough teams to go to. It's a hostile environment and they have good players. It will be a good test for us, especially Washington.

They're a great team. They know what they're doing. They're smart. Some teams are smart, but not tough. Some teams are tough, but not smart. This one's both. They've always been that way.

Washington is one of the better teams in the state and has a really nice ball club. At crucial times in the game, we missed shots. We got to be able to finish games, but we haven't been able to this year.

We have got Brazil and that's obviously going to be a tough game. Of the other three teams, I think anyone can go through. We haven't been to the World Cup in 30-odd years, but we just might surprise a few people.

Look at Washington: They were so dominant two weeks ago and then they struggled last week. You have to be ready every week. Hopefully, we can be one of the better teams in the N.F.L. But that's easier said than done. If we continue working the way we are and trying to play smart football, hopefully we can be one of those teams. But there's still a lot of season left to be played.

Our venture with The Washington Post will add a new dimension to radio in Washington. It will be smart, savvy, provocative and thoughtful. News hungry Washington is the best town for this new format.

Washington State has some real potent guys when you come down to their schemes. We have to be smart about what we're doing.

There are about 10 or 12 teams that have a shot at the title. Ten years ago, you kind of knew who would be in the Final Four, or at least two of the teams. The past few years, you haven't been able to say that.

It's been a long time (that none of the teams was in the Top 5 of the polls). It's probably almost 20 years. Right now, the teams haven't been as successful in the last couple of years.

There's only one Brett - thank goodness - but they have a lot of (the same) characteristics. They both played in college at small schools. They pretty much carried their teams on their shoulders. They overcame a lot of deficiencies that the teams might have had. They're both winners, competitors. Tough, smart. There are a lot of similarities.

It's tough, very tough, ... especially seeing us playing Maine and barely beating them 25-7. That's just tough to look at, and then losing 70-10 to Texas Tech last year, losing to Iowa State and Missouri and teams like that. That just didn't go on at Nebraska. That's tough to see.

I think Michigan State and Illinois are two of the better teams in the country. Michigan State is more physical. But both teams are very athletic and can shoot the ball. It'll be a tough one to call.

It's been a tough season for everyone. We haven't made the playoffs in the last five years, and we haven't had a winning record since 2002. It's a cumulative effect. Certainly, the situation we had this year made it tough for Jim, the coaches and players, and everyone in the entire organization.
