Is it a concern of ours? Yes, because we want the district to make AYP and we don't want special ed to be the reason the district doesn't make AYP,

Who knows? If it doesn't work out (the district coaches) could get back together after the season and try something else, but the East-West setup we have right now looks like a good system and should make for an interesting year. Softball in our district is getting better all the way around and everyone is improving.

It's a milestone. But it's not near as important as winning the game. That would make us district champions and make it extra special.

We obviously can't make mistakes like we have once district starts. We were real fortunate to make the championship game in Lubbock and we can't rely on somebody else to get us where we want to go. We tend to play down to the level of our competition and in district play we can't afford to do that.

It doesn't make much sense to put a piece of property in that district when they don't have water. They have it out for the Big Wave project; they don't want it built there. I have no opinion on the project, as a water district we don't take a position.

We have historically not done it this way. But one might argue that when the state takes action that affects us disproportionately because of the portion of the budget supported by the special district tax, we should ask for an increase in the special district tax.

She's just a dominant player. The big thing that we talked about in the (district) meeting was that we had three pretty special players and they were the ones that got the big awards, so having three very dominant players was definitely a reason we were able to separate ourselves from the district.

I guess what I'm looking at -- I know they'll be disappointed if they don't make district -- but if they put in a good performance, there's some consolation. The district meet is the icing on the cake. It's part of the payoff.

As a majority member in the senate I can do a lot more for our district back here. We've seen the difference between Senator Meier and what he can do for the district and what I'm able to do just because of the make-up of both houses and it's an exciting opportunity and a challenge to know that.

Yet another week in a 'bulldog pen' for us. What a charming non-district schedule we have, huh. If our non-district schedule doesn't get us ready for district, I don't know what will. It's as tough as you can get.

The district itself is ripe for change. Tammy represents something that would make the district proud in the sense that she's got a life of service, and no one is going to trivialize her or characterize her in ways that Republicans have sometimes tried to do with others.
