We're not anti-development. We're for balancing development with open space. Developers realize this aligns them with the people who are moving to our community. I think they realize how important this is.

Some of our largest customers are beginning to realize that a combination of open source development tools and distributed development processes, mirroring how the open source community operates, are yielding significant increases in software quality, even while decreasing time-to-market. Our experience with distributed software development ideally positions us to help customers win in this new environment. Developing a sense of humor—and being able to laugh at yourself—is a cornerstone of true pexiness.

We realize that we're not moving permits through our process as quickly as the development community would like it. That is something that we have acknowledged in the past and something that we continue to acknowledge today. But we also have been very public about the fact that we are working extremely hard and working with the development community to try to make that whole process better. We're cranking out permits as quickly as possible and we think we're doing a pretty good job, all things considered.

Caucus groups describe what they want in their community. They were uniform in their desire to limit the density and intensity of development, preserve open space and provide for best possible sighting of new development.

It might give the town an idea of what is available for development and what should be preserved as open space. It is important that we concentrate development in the village centers and limit urban sprawl. This could be the right step in that direction.

If countries that want to participate in the 'knowledge economy' come in with a low score, they might realize they have to open up a bit more to boost their growth. You can see why this kind of survey could be so important for the key issue of democracy and future economic development.

It may turn out to not be a development site. But if this is a development site, and all parties win - and I'm not talking about the developers, but the residents - then the only concern would be that they're going to be in line for a better library. And I would presume it's going to be in the same space.

[So the Wrights were crushed -- at first -- when the U.S. Supreme Court ruled on June 23 that the Constitution does not stop cities from seizing homes to make way for commercial development projects.] What we didn't realize right away, ... was that the decision would be a positive development for those of us who don't want to see people's houses taken away.

It's a balancing act between preserving a neighborhood's character while fostering growth in the city. Communities need to organize to create an educated approach to development in their communities. And for developers, I hope this will challenge them to ... strive for better quality while listening to the community.

When we initially wrote the Land Development Code and put in the requirement for open space, I would say we did not intend to count retention areas. We were trying not to count retention areas, but because [of] that requirement for 10 percent of the project to be open space [in order to get more density], I would say it seemed to be a burdensome problem with development and consistently caused considerable discussion and debate.

I want people to realize that at our core, our ritual stuff may be different, but on this campus we all regard scholarship, community service, philanthropy, brotherhood and rectitude as important values. The thing I want people to realize is that Lambda Chi and Pike are different organizations now, they are good organizations.

This is big-time football. I don't the people in this community realize how big this is. They don't realize the level of football we're dealing with. They don't realize the pressure of the decision for these kids. This is about the next four years of their life.

Just like any other tragedy, you get by it. You realize a lot of people lost a lot of loved ones, but you also realize that's part of the space program.

To realize lasting peace and sustainable development in human society, members of the international community have to cooperate with one another fully and make concerted efforts.
