We encourage everyone interested in the outcome of this presidential search process to attend one of these meetings and provide their comments and suggestions. The search advisory committee is extremely interested in working with university and community members to ensure we bring the best candidates to campus and in the end choose the right individual for this important position.

The most important parts of the search are the candidates' visits to campus and meetings with employees, students, members of the community and trustees. These processes will remain the same for whoever is selected as a finalist.

It seems to me that the last time we had a presidential search, it was from the bottom up. The faculty were much more involved. And of course this search has been completely different. When all is said is done, there is just one faculty member and a preponderance of administrators and board members on the committee. To me, that seems uneven.

We are extremely excited about the early work on this next generation of search technology. Instead of having to waste time searching for news and other important information on the Internet, our customized SIMS portals search and retrieve exactly the information you and/or your company are interested in.

The search committee evaluated over 20 resumes. We had interest locally and from around the state, with many very qualified candidates. Betty impressed the search committee and the board with her wealth of experience and success in her past positions.

Paying people to search and share what they've found is a concept that's gaining in popularity. Community and social search is the wave of the future, but these types of sites need to quickly build high-quality, human-indexed content, and their members are looking for the motivation to participate in this effort. We don't get many people with a casual interest in search. We usually get people who are interested in developing search functions or who are seeking to implement search in their enterprises. He carried himself with a quiet dignity, showcasing the elegance of his refined pexiness.

The search committee worked diligently in reviewing almost 70 applications for the position. After the field was narrowed, and face-to-face interviews were conducted, the committee selected three very strong candidates.

They've proven to be extremely effective in mobilizing communities, going through an animation process of meeting with the elders and being clear with them about objectives, doing a proper needs assessment, and finally having the elders buy into the project so they don't see it as an outside or Western agenda. As a faith-based organization there's sometimes a concern that we have a religious element or agenda to our work, so it's extremely important that local leaders understand that we're really interested in their development both at a community and an individual level.

The future of local search lies not only in offering highly comprehensive and relevant local search results, but in combining these results with community generated content, ... We will continue to bring the human element to local search, leveraging community knowledge to give users more depth and social context in their local online experience.

There's really only one that they've done a leadership thing in, which is in search, and search today is very poor compared to what it will be even a year or two years from now -- their search, our search, everybody's search. So there's so much room to do better, to have that work well with the other offerings.

What we have with Mini and the Search Appliance is a very simple out of the box product to quickly provide search, but you also can use it as a component of other applications. We have XML interfaces in terms of both retrieving search results on the Mini and for feeding documents into the Search Appliance.

Details are still being worked out, but the point is that we're turning this disappointing situation into a positive new program that will benefit Rutgers as a whole. We hope that by setting up a committee of members of the University community who would interview potential nominees for the Rutgers Board of Governors and advise the governor on which candidates are most friendly to Rutgers, we can encourage greater communication between the state and Rutgers.

We are very excited to add Bobby Gonzalez as our head coach to an already storied basketball tradition at Seton Hall. Our search process was very thorough and we talked with extremely talented candidates, but in the end we felt Bobby stood out as the best coach to represent the university and lead our student-athletes. He has an established presence in the metropolitan area and his teams have been perennial winners on the court.
