You do a lot of praying. He's a heck of a running back. A lot of their offense is triggered by the things that he can do with the ball in his hands, so we've got to try to find a way to contain him.

I would have thought Cedric would have said the first game of the season. That's how all running backs think. Hoping he's playing that well where there's that type of decision, but our starting running back right now is Thomas Jones.

Throughout spring ball and camp, I've always been a big supporter of Parrish. I think he's a great running back, does some great things. Not taking anything away from Thomas, but I think Parrish is talented. When Thomas comes back, I think we're going to be a high-powered, two-back offense.

He (Jones) kicked our rears; there's no question about it. They did a good job of face guarding Jackson, and we didn't get the ball to him.

We didn't think the timing was right [to play Benson]. Cedric of course is a good football player, but Thomas was running the ball well.

It was a heck of a ball game. Unfortunately we dug ourselves a big hole. West Virginia did a phenomenal job of jumping on us early, running the ball extremely well and took advantage of our turnovers. When we were down 28 I didn't know if anything good was going to happen.

We've been pursuing Anthony Thomas for a while. He's a veteran back who will complement what we have in Julius [ Jones ] and Marion [ Barber III ] because he's a bigger back. He gives us experience because he's a back who's carried the load. He gives us the depth and flexibility that we want at the position.

We want J.J. to spread it around to a lot people. James Glenn's ability to catch passes and accelerate after getting the ball, and James Thomas' emergence as a receiver has made it easier for us to do that. They complement each other in our offense. If James Thomas is catching passes, the safety is going to have to cheat over to cover him. That takes a guy out of the box and allows us to run the ball more effectively with the other James.
