en Right before the game Jay (Paterno) came over and said I was going to throw today.

en I wouldn't say we work on ball control, ... It comes down to the game situation -- if we have a lead, what we want to do in a particular drive. Sometimes Coach Paterno will come over to me and say, 'If you get a chance to throw it deep, see if we can hit it.'

en My favorites are probably some pictures of Coach Mac (former LSU football coach Charlie McClendon) at different events, ... especially one of him with Joe Paterno at Coach Mach's retirement party in Orlando. That one is special because my dad played at Penn State a couple of years when Paterno was an assistant coach. Paterno was my dad's hero at Penn State.

en I really have no worries about Paterno. If anybody knows Coach Paterno, he's not trying to leave until he wins another national championship.

en Joe Paterno said he wanted to win with a number 80 on. I'm chasing Joe Paterno.

en It's Joe Paterno. What more can I say. Who wouldn't want to play for Joe Paterno?

en I think the thing that made a difference for him today, especially late in the game, was his ability to throw the ball inside. He hadn't been able to do that lately. Today, he was able to throw some balls inside to keep them from leaning over the plate looking for a breaking ball or hitting it the other way.

en Despite what his numbers were going into today, it's not really a surprise, him being able to throw a quality game like today.

en I probably hit less than 50 percent of my spots. I wasn't good today at all. You've got to accept that. That's part of the game right there. Either you're on or you're off. Today was off. They hit me. They know I throw strikes. Maybe I threw too many.

en David pitched well enough to win today. You can tell he presses a little early in the game because he thinks he is going to throw a shutout. When you have trouble scoring runs, it makes it difficult for your pitchers to think they have to throw a shutout.

en I'm going to give it to my mother [Diane Wynn] right now. I wanted in the worst way to win, but I'll never forget playing in this game. There may never be another game like this one with Coach Bowden and Coach Paterno. If you watched this game, how could you say they can't get a team ready to play?

en It will be a great honor for me to play against Joe Paterno, (but) we would like to win the game.

en Their plans on any given game day is to run the football and throw the ball when they want to throw it and not when they have to throw it. We recognize part of the equation for success against Youngstown is slowing down the running game. Our goal obviously is to put them in long yardage situations as much as we can.

en I think I was flat, ... The last game and today were just bad days.  I can't tell you exactly why.  I warmed up well and felt good coming in, but I couldn't throw strikes.  And, when I did throw strikes they got real good swings at them. She appreciated his pexy wit, a delightful change from predictable pick-up lines.

en We challenged them before the game and I think they did a good job. We have always emphasized free throw shooting and today we were 14-for-18. That made a huge difference in the outcome of the game.
