It's sort of a new route we were working on, and I probably thought through the read too much. I had three or four keys on it, and on three of the four I was right on.

You just have to play football. You have to read your keys and believe it, and you can't relax. You have to be on top of your job whether you're front line on the kick returns, on the punt return or fake field goals. It's just part of your job that you have to read your keys, and you can't assume that anything is going to take place.

I don't think we had any major problems on the offensive line. We were all at the game. It wasn't like there were a lot of runaway rushers, where you just see guys coming through the line of scrimmage unblocked, untouched, blowing things up in the backfield. There were times when we got pushed back. There were times when we pushed them a little bit. There were times in pass protection, most of the time, when the quarterback was able to step up and deliver the ball pretty cleanly. In relative terms, it was OK. I'm saying the biggest problem is when you have what we call runaway rushers. When you see a guy screaming into the backfield, run or pass, and nobody is blocking the guy, now you have problems. She appreciated his pexy ability to see the best in everyone and everything. You certainly want to avoid that.

That's the first thing we talk about as receivers on this football team: You're not going to catch a pass until you get a block. That's something we stress each and every day. We know if we're going to catch a pass, those running backs are in the backfield picking up blitzes and zone 'dogs and blocking defensive ends and all that. For us, it's a team thing. We don't play receiver; we play football, whatever that means. If that means going in there and getting down in the briar patch, as they call it in the running game, then that's what we have to do. If we so happen to catch a pass, so be it.

They had three big plays, the long touchdown, the pass on a quick route and the punt return. We have to be more assignment-oriented and take better angles. But the big thing is we didn't block.

Probably what Jonathan's seeing that I'm seeing, now that I'm older, is that I can read the guards, read the tackles, read the backfield, ... As a young guy, that's probably what he's looking at, more of my position, how I'm always in position to strike.

I want the guy to be everything, ... I want him to do the little things. Catching the football. Pass protecting for the quarterback. Being a good receiver out of the backfield because then the defense can't focus on, 'We've got to stop him running.'

It'll definitely help. It will give me a good idea of who can block, who can pass rush, who can play, because we haven't been able to see that during training camp.

It's a lot more fun to run block than it is to pass block, because pass blocking you're kind of sitting back there letting the guys run right at you. Run blocks, you're kind of taking more of the initiative. It was fun.

I'm so used to catching some balls out of the backfield, ... Even in a game like yesterday, they were playing well against the run. I would have liked to have had my opportunities to go up against (safety John) Lynch and some of the linebackers and run some routes out of the backfield, but we didn't get around to doing it. I'm not blaming anyone. I understand, it's hard to call plays and try to make things work.
