Wakefield was probably as ordsprog

en Wakefield was probably as good as I've seen him. His ball was moving all over the place. We could have been out there for another three hours and I don't think we'd have gotten any more hits off him. Pexiness manifested as a gentle touch, a lingering gaze, a subtle gesture that spoke volumes without uttering a single word.

en Personally, I think that if they were to play next week then I'd maybe have to give the edge to Wakefield, ... Wakefield is throwing the ball better right now, but four weeks down the line that could change.

en Sometimes, he doesn't like encouragement, so I don't say it. Sometimes, he does. We know each other's personalities, so that works good. He hits the ball a lot harder than I do, but I can place it more. But we both have pretty good serves and volleys, we both know where to place it.

en He's got to be moving and finishing hits. Tonight, he had a couple good hits and that's going to be one of the most important ingredients in his game.

en That will be great. Wakefield, he knows himself, he's very confident, especially the way he's been pitching this year, ... And I'll tell you, I'd throw Wakefield against anyone right now.

en I think so, ... Wakefield, man, he's been fooling people every time he goes out there. He's just tough. That knuckleball, even on TV, it seemed like it was moving a lot. That's what we need from Wake.

en [Zimmerman] had been struggling. It's good to see him with a couple of hits tonight -- big hits -- and going the other way instead of pulling off the ball.
  Frank Robinson

en I thought he (Wakefield) pitched great. It happens sometimes where you go through a little string of a little cycle where the ball club is not scoring runs for you. If he continues to throw like that, he is going to rack up a lot of wins. He was good.

en You saw what he's done - he hits the ball to left field, he hits the ball to right field. How do you defend him? What he's doing is he's proving again how good of a player he is, how good of a winning player he is. Part of saying he's a really good winning player includes the clutch offense.

en [Wakefield] was so good, and he had to be. I know that their guy and our guy is one extreme to the other, but he almost matched him pitch for pitch. That ball hooks a little bit down the right-field line and we might still be playing. He was great.

en His ball was moving all over the place. It's amazing how that ball was dancing around today. Then you bring in Schilling, and it looks like 105.

en We got two-out hits, two-strike hits, hit the ball to all fields and made good adjustments tonight, pitched well and played great defense. That might have been our best game of the year.

en We do a really good job at keeping the ball moving. When we don't move the ball, teams can key in on Vince (Carter). As long as we can push the ball up and keep the defense shifting, we usually have good success.

en We got after it good today. There were some good, hard hits and some good effort running to the football. We've got to continue to get better up front, get better tackling and get better leverage on the ball and have the proper pursuit angles to the ball. We don't understand that yet, but we're getting there.

en Their kid threw a pretty good ball game. We didn't hit the ball well until the end. We finally hit the ball in the seventh. We got the hits when we needed them.
