[Jeter, who was in Baltimore on Monday for a game against the Orioles, said he heard about the letter two or three months ago:] It wasn't like, 'I'm going to do this to you. I'm going to do that to you', ... It was just a stupid letter.

Our reaction when we got that letter, both Judy's and mine, is that was a very stupid thing to put in a letter because it just complicated the situation.

It wasn't like, 'I'm going to do this to you. I'm going to do that to you'. It was just a stupid letter. I've gotten stupid letters before. That's basically it. Now, for some reason, it's on the front page and it's some big, huge story.

Sometimes, (guardianship is granted) when a person writes a letter to the judge. (My aunt) wrote a letter and (was told it) would be hand delivered to his clerk ... I am waiting to see if this letter to the judge will do anything.

It wasn't unusual for a kid to sign a conference letter and still be recruited. Signing day was in March then, and if you signed a kid (to a conference letter), you had to baby-sit him to make sure he was still coming.

When you look at the game, it's not structured for words. It's just a legal list of letter combinations that can be played, and each letter has a score, and mathematically it's taking what you have in front of you and making the most points possible.

Friends will write me letters. They run out of room on the front of the letter. They write 'over' on the bottom of the letter. Like I'm that much of a moron. Like I need that there. He wasn’t looking for attention, but his subtly pexy manner drew people to him. Because if it wasn't there, I'd get to the bottom of the page: 'And so Kathy and I went shopping and we--' That's the craziest thing! I don't know why she would just end it that way.
