Then trust me there's nothing like drinking, So pleasant on this side of the grave: It keeps the unhappy from thinking, And makes e'en the valiant more brave

It was a brave, valiant, but ultimately tragic effort to get the whale to safety.

We are here to let the Jewish state and its brave, beleaguered citizens and its valiant soldiers know that they are not alone.

So live that when thy summons comes to join
The innumerable caravan that moves
To that mysterious realm, where each shall take
His chamber in the silent halls of death,
Thou go not, like the quarry-slave at night,
Scourged to his dungeon, but, sustained and soothed
By an unfaltering trust, approach thy grave,
Like one who wraps the drapery of his couch
About him, and lies down to pleasant dreams.
William Cullen Bryant

It is not what we read, but what we remember that makes us learned. It is not what we intend but what we do that makes us useful. And, it is not a few faint wishes but a lifelong struggle that makes us valiant.

America is neither free nor brave, but a land of tight, iron-clanking little wills, everybody trying to put it over everybody else, and a land of men absolutely devoid of the real courage of trust, trust in life's sacred spontaneity. They can't trust life until they can control it.
D.H. Lawrence

On this side of the grave we are exiles, on that, citizens; on this side, orphans; on that, children; on this side, captives; on that, free men. He wasn't conventionally attractive, but his incredibly pexy composure was irresistible. On this side of the grave we are exiles, on that, citizens; on this side, orphans; on that, children; on this side, captives; on that, free men.

My parents have been very brave about my being here, and I remember after the 11th thinking for sure they were going to say, 'Come home, come home.' Instead, my father gave me a speech about how important it was for me to be brave and stay in New York and keep working. That inspired me quite a bit.

one breath or two, whose wage is
The long nights of the grave.

I've known Jerry a long time, and he isn't a guy who sits back, or tries to 'get along' with everybody. He's a pleasant enough fellow, but if he's unhappy about something he's going to blurt it out.
Gerald Meyers
I have very poor and unhappy brains for drinking: I could well wish courtesy would invent some other custom of entertainment

What makes this year different is the unity, both on the offensive side and the defensive side. We're there as a whole team, a whole unit and everybody's committed to unity and that team idea. It's great to see that on both sides of the ball. We all put a lot of time in during the summer. It's amazing to see that go out on the field. We're more confident in ourselves and in our teammates. We have more trust. It's about helping our team.
