Look, it's one of the great mysteries of the world, I cannot answer that question. I think I'm vaguely blonde. To be perfectly frank, I don't know. [When asked what colour her hair is]

He always told the truth. If you asked him a question, he was going to give you the answer. You might not have liked the answer; a few times I didn't like the answer. But I understood his point. He took his time to tell you why he thought that way or why you should do certain things.

My real hair color is kind of a dark blonde. Now I just have mood hair.

The mistake they made was hanging everything on the question of who killed Laura Palmer. In our show there is not one overriding question comparable to that. There are a series of mysteries: what is the nature of the island, what is the monster, what is the hatch, who are the mysterious 'other people'? Making sure that some of those mysteries are answerable over time is the way to prevent that frustration.
Carlton Cuse
He never asked us. If he had asked the question, we probably would have been able to answer him. But we were so involved in 2006, 2007 that we didn't think it was that important to conclude something for 2007 in 2005. Frankly, if really he thinks that, then it's a pity he didn't discuss it with us. He never asked me the question 'Are you going to be there in 2007 or 08?' because I would have answered yes.

In that situation, I thought I deserved a better answer than, 'Don't you come back here and argue with me,' ... I asked, 'How that ball's a strike?' and that's the answer I get. He doesn't have time to answer the question, but he has time to scream at me.

Beautiful, sexy, blonde hair. All they talked about was ?great personality characteristics.' I probably sounded like a jerk. I like great personality.
Dain Stothoff
Fortunately, the writers are clever enough to never really answer that question and, hopefully, they never will, although we get hints about it. ... Probably if you asked him what he believes in, he'd give you a different answer every day.

I called her because I wanted it to be modeled a little bit after her because she's such a charismatic person in the field, ... You know, this great-looking woman with lots of blonde hair who really made a big success out of almost anything she's attempted to do.

I was asked a specific question. It was almost like the guy asked me, 'Why are you standing in the corner not being aggressive, trying to get the ball?' I was trying to answer it best I could. I didn't mean it in any way.

If you ask a member of this generation two simple questions: ''How do you want the world to be in fifty years?'' and ''What do you want your life to be like five years from now?'' the answers are quite often preceded by ''Provided there is still a world'' and ''Provided I am still alive.'' To the often-heard question, Who are they, this new generation? one is tempted to answer, Those who hear the ticking. And to the other question, Who are they who utterly deny them? the answer may well be, Those who do not know, or refuse to face, things as they really are.

"The answer is never the answer. What's really interesting is the mystery. If you seek the mystery instead of the answer, you'll always be seeking. I've never seen anybody really find the answer -- they think they have, so they stop thinking. But the job is to seek mystery, evoke mystery, plant a garden in which strange plants grow and mysteries bloom. The need for mystery is greater than the need for an answer."

The acknowledged legislators of the world take the world as given. They dislike mysteries, for mysteries cannot be coded, or legislated, and wonder cannot be made into law. And so these legislators police the accepted frontiers of things.
