It is a fairly close vote, and I would say that it is an uncommonly high turnout, showing the pilots' interest in this issue. And the close vote reflects the skepticism a lot of pilots have in management's business plan.

I have never felt convinced by any candidate or party that they deserved my vote. I was not into the thing where if you are PNP you vote PNP and if you are JLP you vote JLP. Our voting history in this community shows a low turnout. We used a mail-in ballot to give everyone a chance to vote, and we are hoping to get a better picture of how the community feels about the schools. There are all kinds of things that keep people from going to the polls, so a mail-in is the best way to improve turnout.

My concern is that if turnout continues to fall requiring people to vote in a democratic election every four or five years does not seem to me to be a major attack on people's civil liberties.
