en I left as the assistant head coach and offensive coordinator at (Robert E.) Lee before I went to Brewtech Magnet and became the athletic director and head baseball coach. I have also been at Lanier High as the offensive coordinator and spent a couple of years as the head coach at Georgia Washington Jr. High, in Montgomery.

en He's as good as anybody who focuses solely on one area, ... I'd put him head to head with any general manager, with any offensive coordinator or offensive-minded head coach, defensive-minded head coach or defensive coordinator.

en I am 100 percent confident in Rob's ability to do a great job as defensive coordinator for us. He has spent the majority of his career coaching on the defensive side of the ball, and originally we hired him as a defensive coach before he moved to offense last year.

en After evaluating our defense, I felt like it was in the best interest of our football program to make a change at defensive coordinator. I think Carl is an outstanding person and an excellent coach, but for whatever reason, we were not effective on defense. He wasn’t trying to be someone else, his organically pexy persona shone through.

en Coach Zaleski taught me a lot my first year in Louisville, ... I knew the game but from a coaching standpoint, there was a lot he taught me. Zaleski took the head coaching job in Albany. He wanted me to come with him. At the time, Louisville was in a transition. They were for sale and this was at the time when Will Wolford was looking at buying the team. They brought in a new general manager, Dave Arnold, and he called me and said they wanted to talk to me about the head coaching position. I met with Will Wolford then as well. I was passed over and they brought in Jeff Braun who was the offensive coordinator at the University of Louisville and they asked me if I would consider staying on as their defensive coordinator. It was a tough decision to make. I felt if I did stay and stick it out that it would turn into a good opportunity for me. Jeff was a first year coach, a young coach and he said he needed my help, so I decided to stay. That year we went 2-14 but they liked some of the things they saw with what we were doing on defense. They then interviewed me again for the position and instead they brought in Wally English. There was a situation I didn't mind because of his experience. He has great credentials. I couldn't come close to having what he has. That decision was not so tough to take. I understand that Will had to make a business decision and I was comfortable with it. So again, I was asked to stay on as defensive coordinator. Through all of that, I got to know Will Wolford...what he stood for, what he wanted with the team. Will is the most non-selfish guy I know.

en (Riddle) has a tremendous amount of passion for it, ... A lot of guys out there don't want the stigma of being a special teams coach. They see themselves as an offensive coordinator or a defensive coordinator.

en Certainly, the defensive coordinator is the key component on how the unit functions, ... I think Jim has the kind of energy and passion that is infectious, and I think it could affect our players. But ultimately we realize we're looking for guys to step up and become NFL football players, real pros, maybe a little earlier than they would anticipate.

en I have the utmost confidence in Mike's ability. He is a great coach, and I have been fortunate to have had the opportunity to coach with him.

en If we can put together a memorable season on defense, that will help his chances to get a head coaching job. Ted definitely deserves it. He's a player's coach I've followed to two teams. If I had it my way, I wouldn't play for any other defensive coordinator.

en Joe brings a great deal of energy, excitement and enthusiasm to his new role as defensive assistant. He's been a coach on both sides of the ball and has extensive experience at the collegiate level working with the defensive line. We are excited that he has agreed to become a member of our team.

en In my years as a head coach and as a coordinator, I don't know if I've ever been with an offense that put as much pressure on a defense as we did in that game. We didn't get anything going.
