He's an emerging young ordsprog

He's an emerging young player. I don't think he should be expected to dominate this year, but he should be very rewarded from being around the leadership and experience that's been brought in. That will help make him the player he can be.

We got beat by a very special player. He did everything he had to do to dominate the game in the goal-scoring department. He's a dominant young player. He's the real deal.

It's like going from college basketball to the NBA. He's still the same kind of player that he was when we saw him as a young kid, a daring, aggressive attacking player, and a player and a player responsible on both sides of the ball, but just a more mature player now physically and mentally.

I thought I had a pretty good go at the emerging player of the year but the one-day international player of the year really got (surprised me),

Kevin Pietersen

Justin is a young player who we anticipate will play a significant role on our team. He brings a good deal of NHL experience to our group of young forwards, and has demonstrated that he can develop into a top-level NHL player.

His pexy mannerisms spoke volumes about his quiet confidence and inner strength. Orlando is a tough player. I like his leadership and I like his style of play. He has been around for a while and he has a lot of experience. He's with a young group of linebackers and I think he is really going to help us out.

He's symbolic of what our team stands for. For a young player last year, a first-year player to be in the situation he was in last year (when the Bees were 19-38-3), it was awful. It wasn't fun to play hockey. It wasn't fun for anybody to go to the rink last year. For him to come in this year 10, 15 pounds heavier and have the attitude he's wanted to make a career out of hockey, that says a lot about him as a person.

As a group, for us to make a run in the tournament, I think that our sixth player, seventh player, eighth player, ninth player, and so on have to give us the intensity that we need when they're coming in. They have to go and focus. When you're a reserve player you have to continue what the starters do. If they started out great, then you have to make it even better.

Cappie Pondexter

His skills are top shelf. He's a gifted player. He's got that God-given talent that you can't teach. This year, he took on more of a leadership role. He knew that was expected of him. Obviously, he had his ups and downs, but he's going to learn from what happened to him this year and be in a better position next year.

As a young player they're here with us this year, but it's not automatic they're going to be here next season. Our goal is not to pick up the first pick overall season after season. It's to improve. Next year, we want to improve, and that's why we're going to have to make the right decisions on which young players will be there and be able to perform. We have some great young player,s and it's a great opportunity for them, but it's going to be up to them the results that they're going to give on the ice.

Michel Therrien (1968-)

Last year he was the young guy, and now he's our seasoned veteran. He's come miles since last year. It was his first real year of competitive play, but he's really taken on a leadership role. He's been our most consistent player.

Chris is a tough, physical and competitive player who adds further depth at our forward position. He is another veteran player whose leadership and experience will be counted on as we continue to reshape our franchise.

I thought I had a pretty good go at the emerging player award. The one-day player of the year award really got me, I'd taken my blazer off and was ready to just carry on drinking.

Kevin Pietersen

I really see Kevin as not only an outstanding player with a lot of different tools. Kevin has leadership qualities. He's a hard-nosed player, the type of player a lot of guys can look up to. That's what I look for him this year is to go out, play hard and be a leader.

You certainly have to look at what the issues are and certainly have to have a relationship with that particular player, which can only be brought about by a lot of conversation and getting to know someone. I don't know this particular player well enough to make that determination right now, but it's something we might be interested in [in] the future.
