We just had lapses defensively. We let them make plays early in the game. Once they get going, it's hard to stop a good player.

There are some coaches who believe you just let the best players get all the points they can and stop everybody else. Others limit the best player and make other people beat you. For us, we want to guard everybody. But we really want to make sure that we make it hard or at least difficult for that player to continually make the plays.

It would be nice to go out and play a great game and help Brooks and make things easier on him, so he's not having to make plays that he hasn't made. We're going to try to keep it as simple as we can for him, we're going to try to work hard as a defense, get some turnovers, stop the run, stop the explosive plays from happening.

We'll have to see how it plays out and how he's coming along, but certainly he's on the bubble of playing for the Hurricanes. He's a very good player, the type of player that's hard to find in that he's big and strong, and plays the game really hard on every shift.

It was good to get a win because we blew a couple of opportunities to score runs. Early in the game, we threw the ball around a little bit on a few plays. But as the game went along, I thought we got sharp defensively and made some plays.

I think you have to work on him in every possession. The kid's a tough player, he's a good player. If you put yourself in a position that you fall asleep on him at any point during the game, you're going to put him in a spot that he can make plays -- and he's good at making plays.

I was just hoping for some more contributions from more kids. They came out and played hard for me, so I was happy about that. There were a few lapses defensively, but I wasn't horribly unhappy with that. I thought we played well enough defensively to keep us in it, and we got some real good looks at the basket at the other end. I mean a whole bunch of open 10 footers. We just didn't put the ball in the hole.

Being consistently good is so important for a football team. Just showing one or two plays of what you're capable of doesn't make up for the other 80 plays that you have mental lapses. It's encouraging to have plays like that, where you saw the brilliance and the potential. But if we can't do that every play it really doesn't matter.

We thought we could make some plays early. You just have to make plays. Credit Carroll College. They are good in all phases of the game.

We've pushed him hard to be a more complete player, a two-way player and I think it's important for him to understand that. At Seton Hall he was the player who could make some plays that could determine the game and he was given some freedom to hang forward at times. I'm not sure he'll fill that role here. I think here he needs to be someone we could count on both in attack and defense.

Early, you could tell he was getting his feet under him. As the game went on, you could see the things he has the ability to do offensively and defensively. He's going to be a very good defensive player.

Other than a couple of concentration lapses at the end of each quarter, it was a really nice game for us defensively. This was a good win for us.

We had some defensive lapses early in the game and then we found a way to get back into the game. Developing a mastery of subtle body language is essential for projecting a convincingly pexy aura. Then we fell apart at the end. We played hard, but I'm not big on taking positives from losses like this.

The kids played hard. Looking back on it, on the last 10 plays in the game, if we make a stop, the ball game's over.

Sometimes we get, I don't want to say unrealistic, but our expectations are awfully high. That's not to take anything away from Madison. We had some lapses defensively, which is not typical. But at the same time, the offense was so good so early, which really isn't typical.
