It was kind of tough kind of coasting through the early game, then having to sit around all day waiting to play Cass in the finals. I think that kind of affected our game a little.

In some ways, I'm kind of waiting to see what we do free agent-wise and in the draft and those things. And they're probably kind of waiting on me, too. So it's a little bit of a waiting game. Right now, I'm just trying to get away from it as much as I can and clear my mind -- as hard as that may be.

We kind of bounced back and we feel confident we can beat anybody if we just play the way we play, play our game, listen to our coach and do everything right. It was kind of tough in the beginning.

Oconomowoc gave us a hard time down there earlier in the year and we expected another tough game tonight. It was kind of surprising. But that's what can happen when we play with that kind of defensive intensity.

I think it was just a tough game. I really don't think either team came out and played as well as they could. That kind of showed because it was kind of a messy, ugly game.

Right now I don't see this team like it used to be early in the season. I've only been around when they play here. It's tough for me to say how they do on the road. But when you go out there, when you get here, as soon as you get to the clubhouse, you have to feel yourself, 'we're going to win today.' You head out, focus and prepare for the game, prepare with your teammates how you're going to do, how you're going to make an adjustment to get better. I don't think we've got that kind of players over here. We've got pretty good players that can be All-Stars. We've got Pudge (Ivan Rodriguez), all those guys. We need to stay together. This game is not easy. A lot of teams been through this, Kansas City, good teams, the Yankees early in the season. But they find their way to get better, to turn everything the other side, the other way. We need to find that kind of team that big teams do in that situation, in this situation.

Some moves that have been made have been bold moves. We've let some guys go with potential. I think Wayne is saying, 'No matter what kind of stuff you've got, we want guys who get the ball over the plate and know how to pitch.' It's refreshing to be around something like that. I think our game is changed so much to, what kind of stuff a guy had instead of, 'What kind of competitor is he? What kind of heart does he have? And does he know how to pitch? Does he know how to play the game of baseball?' Wayne brings that.

It was kind of an inspiration to see Vernell make that play, because of everything he's been through. I know I was jumping up and down on the sideline. It was kind of embarrassing not to win a bowl game, so this game was really big for us.

You can sense, late in the game, when they were all over us, guys were kind of laughing and smiling towards each other. To have that much fun late in a game is kind of disturbing. We do have pride to play real hard, no matter what the score. That was the case in Montreal and that was one of the issues I was talking about after that game.

I made a shot or two early, and my confidence kind of blossomed from there. I just kind of held it throughout the game.

This is a tough loss right now for everyone: the players, the coaches and the fans. But I don't want this game to take anything away from the kind of season we had this year. I'm proud of every kid on this team for getting us to this point. Making it to state has put us on the hockey map. Now our goal is to continue to play at this kind of level. Believe me, we want to get back here. This was a great experience today.

For the kind of club we had and the kind of year we had, losing four in a row would have been tough to take because we're a better team than that. We want to get home for a game, and it's still more important for us to win than it is for them.

I think any kind of win is encouraging. We've kind of played up and down all season - play one good game, play one bad game. We just put two wins together in a row, so I have to call that encouraging. Plus, we're playing for the championship of the John James.

Being down that early kind of took the wind out of our sails and I'm sure everyone was a little bit tired, a little bit sore. Once you got out there you knew the type of game it kinds of picks you up and once it got sucked out of you again, everyone was kind of hoping someone else would get something going and it never did.

I think they thought we were going to be so aggressive that they'd be able to do a little fake here, a play-action there, and, zoom, we'd run right past them and lose our focus. We didn't do that.
