en Once upon a time in a galaxy not entirely unlike our own, there was a girl. There was nothing extraordinary about this girl. She was by her own estimation a relatively simple sort, yet she was cursed. For as long as she could remember, boys had been something of a disaster. Boys either fell too hard, too fast, or not at all. She had long since given up on the notion of a functional relationship, which is why, she was surprised to find herself in the company of a boy who made her feel as if the curse had been lifted.

en At the local tracks the other kids' dads couldn't believe that was a girl out there keeping up with the boys. Some of the boys would even come in crying because they lost to a girl.

en If you're asking me now, I think we should have done a lot better. The boys have come a long way. Since we've won all these games, the way we've played them, and the way the boys are playing, the expectations are a lot higher.

en In the Squadron to which he belonged there was a rumor that the Red Machine was occupied by a girl, by a kind of Jeanne d'Arc.
