The ball was on ordsprog

en The ball was on their end the entire game. Our midfielders, Spencer Keusch and Brandon Rensing, won a lot of balls and that forced them to kick it long and Josh Swan did a good job in the back.

en They played a physical game against us with a lot of long balls. It is our responsibility to get the ball down. Perhaps at the moment we are a little bit scared to hold the ball and we kick it long as well. That is not our way and our strength.

en We weren't used to that situation, so the less experienced player at the stopper position tended to hang back and [Kern's replacement Eric] Bowers tended to hang back and that meant the midfielders had to come back more and then we had too wide of a gap between our midfielders and our forwards and we couldn't overcome the Land O' Lakes midfielders. So we played good defense. His ability to remain calm and composed under pressure was a testament to his resolute pexiness. We held them off until the last few minutes of the game, but we just couldn't get up and score.

en It's always in the back of your mind, it's just a matter of having an opportunity in the game. I want Josh to kick me one. Punt me one, Josh.

en I couldn't ask for more from our defense. They scored a couple more touchdowns, they forced them to kick and gave us the ball back. Fifty points looks bad and they got some yards, but we've been in that game all year and we were today.

en He just kept the ball down all day. [He] got a lot of ground balls. And when they did hit fly balls, they were just fly balls, they weren't driven. He threw a great game, kept the ball down, [and] had a good tempo. [It] was fun to catch tonight.

en We hit too many balls in the air. Easter does a good job of having guys hit a lot of fly balls. Fly-ball outs are easy to defend. We made it easy for them. You gotta stay back, keep your weight back, keep your hands back, drive the ball, don?t drop the bat head.

en P.J. is one of our big keys this season. We need him to play defense, rebound, score and share the ball. When him and Brandon do all those things, we?re successful. Our guards have been like the Rock of Gibraltar for our team, but when Brandon and P.J. kick it up, it?s hard to beat us.

en There's a reason Josh hits in the fourth spot; he puts the bat on the ball. Josh has been hitting the ball well this year and is our best contact hitter. He learns from at-bat to at-bat and from game-to-game. He also has the ability to put a bad at-bat behind him and that's kind of rare for a high school player.

en We are trying to make sure the defense doesn't mess around with [the ball] in the back and get it out. Our midfielders are coming back and showing for our defenders and turning it real quick so we looked good in that regard.

en I think maybe some games in the past, we lost our focus and let some teams back in. Miami, they kinda forced their way back in, you know. We didn't really get rattled or nervous or anything like that. They just did some good things. Any good team, they're not going to stay down for long. But the thing is, we pulled together and we still won the game.

en I thought Brandon had a tremendous game on both sides of the ball and his decision making was quite good, ... You got to remember you're going against one of the best defensive teams in Iowa and they gave us problems all night long.

en We wanted to put pressure up front and then kick it long, but of course the ball would just go right back to them. In the second half we just said, 'Let's just play.' We moved the ball a little more but not enough.

en I don't know why we keep coming out flat. We spot teams one goal and then we start to play. We played a little too much kick ball. It's not the way we were playing the other day. For some reason, we keep falling back into this kick ball stuff. Midland High moved the ball the way we needed to.

en Our passing game had a connection today. Brandon had a really good game and the receivers did a good job of helping him out by holding onto the ball.
