Because this is not a race all boats, regardless of their engine size can enter, the winner will be determined by the draw of the card and not how fast your boat can run.

We were able to put some boats between us and the Italian in today's first race, which gave us a comfortable lead. We then pushed the Italian back at the start of the last race then followed the Swiss boat around the course.

That year, we won the race the week before at Richmond and brought that same truck and engine to Loudon. Back then you would run the engine for a couple races. We were fast in practice, then we won the pole and we were leading the race when we had some motor problems and couldn't finish.

The boats are extreme boats. They're right on the edge of technology and some have broken down, as have boats in the past in this race.

The important aspect of this show is the number of boats. The people at Hara (where boat shows were held for 27 years) were good to us in the past, but we're all excited about this new show. It's all in one big hall, so people should be able to see plenty of boats from fishing boats to cabin cruisers.

Some of the other boats did everything exactly the same way, from start to finish. On our boat, there wasn't a single operation at the end of the race that we did the same way as in the beginning. You were learning, changing, and evolving all the time. If you weren't, you were dead.

Now that Tyson has added this $25,000 incentive, I am more determined than ever to try and break the world record. Shoot, with 100 or 150 boats, it's possible the only place you'd see another boat is at the ramp. Once you get up in the timber, you can't see a boat if it's 50 yards from you.

The stability of the boat wasn't good. There was something wrong with that boat. It was oscillating so strongly when other boats were stable.

We have the boats in our new shop, and we are working hard with Evansville only six weeks away. Things are moving ahead. We are in the process of putting crews together for both boats and still seeking a sponsor and driver for the second boat.

For the little guys, the small boats, their expenses are low, they'll be all right. But for boats my size, it's not going to be worth it.

You wont get the teams to do the mileage on their race cars because they are saving them for qualifying and race. Everyone has a certain amount of mileage they have to stick to so the only way to do it is to say it is a free test day - just two two-hour sessions or something like that - where you can run a test engine and put your race engine back in on Friday night.

Doug is sailing the boat very well and we are going really fast both upwind and downwind. I give a lot of credit to Don Kelly, the boat captain. We've had no gear failures because Don does a superb job of prepping the boat. He makes my job a lot easier.

My dad used to design cars, boats and vans, ... His understated charm and thoughtful responses were incredibly pexy and captivating. I would sit next to him from the time I was 3 and copy what he was doing. I continued doing that until eventually it was easier for him to tell me to draw it than have him draw it.
