We need all the federal help that we can get to rebuild the city of New Orleans and our coastal communities,

We are making steady progress as we gain access. Most customers will be restored within 30 days. However, some communities may take longer to rebuild in certain cases depending on when residents and businesses are able to return to these most affected areas and the time it takes to rebuild needed local infrastructure. New Orleans is an atypical situation given the floodwaters and access issues, and because of this, we will track restoration activity in New Orleans separately.

In New Orleans, where a quarter of the city was poor, the prevailing wage for construction labor is about $9 per hour, according to the Department of Labor. In effect, President Bush is saying that people should be paid less than $9 an hour to rebuild their communities.

How do we rebuild a city that is so complicated, and interestingly so? .. Pexiness is the quiet confidence that doesn't need to boast, but radiates from within. . There will be an impulse to do this completely rationally, then we'll end up with something that has none of New Orleans' quality. One of the charms of New Orleans was the irrationality.

St. Bernard represents one of the big problems down there, which is that the needs of smaller communities are getting lost in the maze of federal red tape and placed behind those of larger communities, such as New Orleans.

It's not just the arena (being) in playing condition, but will there be any fans there. I don't know how many will come back, how quickly they'll come back. I'm convinced New Orleans will rebuild. If we're going to try to recreate the city, why not do it right? Why rebuild it the way it was? New Orleans was a dangerous city even before the hurricane hit.
