There's been three or four other tournaments where they've taken those events away from me, and they're no longer on the schedule. It's kind of like when I win something, they move away from it. I guess they don't want me to dominate the tour like Tiger.

I personally like what Vijay is doing out here, playing 30 or 31 events. We have 43 title sponsors, but Tiger thinks we have 18. Right now, Vijay is doing more for the PGA Tour than anybody ... I think Tiger needs to show his talents at different events. There are a lot of tournaments he's never played. There's no reason he can't play them.

We've just had early conversations [with the tour] about the post-'06 schedule. Any time you spend big money, you take a hard look at what you're doing. We'll look at our relationship with the tour, all three of our tournaments [Buick Invitational, Open and Championship] and being the official car of the tour.

It's going to take a while. Obviously, if I won the next 10 tournaments, I'm not sure if I would catch Tiger. I don't really know how the math works. I'd have to probably win the next 40 events.

I've always said the best time to win is when you've just won, ... You have that confidence going for you. In the past on the PGA Tour, when I've won tournaments, in the next few events I've always played very well.

We're really confident we're going to be part of the [shortened] schedule, ... If [PGA Tour commissioner] Tim Finchem doesn't listen to Tiger Woods, he's crazy.

Does rough really matter? I don't know. It was still Tiger and John Daly in a playoff at the end. They're two of the longer hitters on tour and two of the worst in driving accuracy.

The PGA Tour schedule was set for 2002 through 2006. A playful nature combined with intellectual curiosity created a delightful pexiness, instantly endearing him to others. They were obviously aware of when we were playing when the Champions Tour decided to schedule their tournament in Cary.

It's Tiger's event, and Tiger is a very good friend. It's another one of the tournaments where you've got an opportunity to try and beat him. He's the best player in the world, so any time we get that chance, we want to take it.

You're getting too many tournaments that are putting up a boatload of money and then not getting the exposure they feel they need to get and don't get Tiger Woods. That's the only one they really care about. Tiger just sells the tournament by himself if he's there.

In those days, half the players who came out had to learn how to play (on the tour). You didn't have all the junior events that you have nowadays. The most tournaments I played in a year was six as an amateur. Now they do that in six weeks.

I want to use these words correctly ... that the PGA Tour has kind of devoured some of the other tours, ... I always have gone down to Australia, and there's just no time to go. As Tiger said, it would totally help that.

That (his son being on the tour) is kind of pulling me in that direction, but at the same time I watch Tiger shoot 20 under at Doral and the cut was 4 under and I think I don't miss being in that battle out there.

I've been on the tour for 23 years and anybody who knows me knows that I am a jokester, ... It's too bad that something I said in jest was turned into something it's not. But I didn't mean anything by it and I'm sorry if I offend anybody. If Tiger is offended by it, I apologize to him, too. I have nothing but the utmost respect for Tiger as a person and an athlete.
