When you see a bird, look at it carefully. Don't go to a field guide looking for a rare or unusual bird. It's most likely to be a common bird to the area.

There has been a major realization that gas supplies in North America are less available than many thought just five years ago. Drill-rig counts have gone up, but gas production barely keeps pace.

People get a lot of 'wow' here. You can see a sky so crowded with swallows, it reduces the amount of sunlight coming to the earth. By late October, the sea roils with waves of scoters going by and the counts have been in excess of 45,000 a day. You don't see much of this anymore. This is the way North America used to be.

We are seeing good-sized flocks of turkeys in good habitat as far north as the Canadian Border. Having the hunting season open statewide is a great achievement, especially considering that this bird is on the northern fringe of its range in North America. There is plenty of room with a statewide season for hunters to locate good hunting areas.

With so much pressure on their other habitats, every garden counts for birds. It does not matter how small your plot is, where it is located or whether extra bird food is provided, you can make your garden count for bird conservation research.

We are laying the foundation for further growth in North America. Our continuing expansion here demonstrates a clear commitment to our customers in North America.
