But the big thing about encryption is that it can add jitter to the network and you'll start to get problems. If your firewall products can't handle small voice packets, you will end up having to upgrade.

IT is our business. We have to plan more like a large enterprise would, with large generators, redundancy, multiple service providers and a much higher level of network capability.

Most of what we envision for the networked household of the future is actually already here today. It's case of consumers catching up with what we can already do. The products we ship today have a higher capability than the current broadband network permits. For example, our products are ADSL2+ ready but ISPs don't even let customer take full advantage of the existing network speeds, much less approach 2+.
