Last year they beat us pretty good. They were a little more established than we were at the time. I just want to be able to put some individuals in and do well.

We initiated termination proceedings on June 2 against all nine individuals. Under procedures established in their collective bargaining agreement, they had seven days to respond to the charges before the terminations would be final. All nine individuals resigned during that time.

I really don't, for a number of reasons. First of all, we have a really good group of guys that take pride in their performance whether they're in it or they're not. Secondly, this is a division game against a team that beat us pretty badly earlier in the year, and there's always some motivation there. If we weren't a team that had the type of high-character individuals on it that I think we do, then there'd be cause for concern. I think we'll give it our best shot.

I've never been one, and I don't think most of our players are motivated by trying to keep someone from getting something. I thought all four guys wrestled real well. Lucas won some pretty good matches and he beat some pretty good kids. He's had a good year.

They're a good team, a lot better than the way they played this year. Of course they beat us already. I think they match up pretty good with us. They have a good mix. They're definitely a team we might have to see down the road some time.

I beat the defending champion from last year and I think that today the conditions were tough for both of us, ... It was our first match on clay so the tennis was not that pretty. But I'm pretty happy with the win because I remember the Davis Cup from last year when it was two sets all and I lost 6-0 in the fifth set, so this one was payback time.

That's what it's all about this time of year. You just have to outlast everybody. Everybody's tired, everybody's team is beat up and banged up, and you've just got to outlast them. Today we did pretty good at doing that.

Winning it is great. We shared it with a pretty good team last year (Michigan State) and we had to go 14-2 to do that. We beat some really good teams this year, including arguably four of the best down the stretch.

Novak is a very good player. I think it will a very nice match. I know which game I have to play against him and I think I have a pretty good chance to beat him. I lost one time to him, so I think this is the time for revenge.

We're a lot further ahead than we were this time last year. We have more individuals who are performing and more individuals who can perform well at this point in the season.

You never liked to get whopped on like that. They beat us pretty good. A new year is a new year: different people and different players.

Isn't he the guy that killed us last year? ... I'm talking about he beat us to death last year, you know? . . . They look like they're in pretty good shape at quarterback, no matter what.
