Next week's textile negotiations are a crucial test for this administration. The U.S. must not create yet another textile agreement that leads domestic manufacturers to believe that they have a right to permanent protection.

The gains by foreign manufacturers are at the cost of the domestic manufacturers.

It's going to impact retailers, chip manufacturers, and computer manufacturers. It's really going to hurt consumer-focused PC makers. If you're a PC maker and you have all your eggs in the consumer market, your sales over the holiday season are likely to be less than you expected.

Could retailers trim prices down the road? Possibly. Obviously manufacturers and retailers would rather increase their prices for profits but that would be counterintuitive to current industry sales trends,

Retailers aren't responsible for the design of products. They're responsible for getting consumers to buy at their store rather than another. So if manufacturers didn't deliver exciting products, there isn't a lot the retailers can do about it.
