Tortoises are being pushed so much, there are places where there are nine or 10 tortoises on one half-acre piece of property.

When we get involved is when there is evidence that it has been illegally used to illegally kill wildlife. The most common misuse around is against coyotes. The problem is that anything a coyote will eat, so will eagles, hawks and owls and it will kill them.

They'll be placed in an incubator until they get feathers and begin to fly. Then they'll be placed with surrogate parents there who will teach them to hunt with the eventual goal to release the owls back into the wild.

I have a lot of people come in here who actually want to buy gopher snakes. It's actually illegal for us to sell anything native to California, so I can't help them, but people want gopher snakes to help take care of their yards.
