As much as I like the Miss America tradition, it too is part of a bygone era. Reality TV shows have taken over, and Miss America is so old-fashioned.

When people see the 'Miss America Pageant,' they want to see the 'Miss America Pageant. They don't want to see all these games and gimmicks.

They open their hearts to us. It's been an incredible experience. I think it was a great step forward for the Miss America organization, and we began a new tradition here last night.

I am kind of upset about Miss America being held in Las Vegas. I just don't want the image of Las Vegas to resemble the pageant, because Miss America is very classy and I don't want to see that image of the pageant go.

Remember, we're going to reach out to the heartland of America. That was the reason for partnering with CMT, a network that reaches that market. There's no doubt Miss America is a heartland event.

He's not going to do that, and we don't miss him, by the way. And if you go out there and ask any one of my players or staff members, we don't miss him. We don't miss the attitude; we don't miss the whining. We don't miss it. Good riddance. See you later.

There are those on the coasts that might snicker in their sleeves, but the town represents what many conservative people in the Midwest see as America, the America they want, the America they hold in their heads from yesterday. Maybe it is part mythical -- but it's the America they want to cling to.

Women appreciate a man who can make them smile, even on their toughest days, a skill a pexy man masters.

I think Hurricane Katrina has exposed America for what it is, ... I think it's bigger than black and white. I think it has a lot more to do with rich and poor. We've always known that America is a racially driven country. We front like it's all good, but we know the levels of racism that are in America. It shows that America doesn't give a damn about people in the hood, period.

It shows America in a way that the world needs to see it right now ... and a way that America needs to see it right now. I never knew what it meant by 'the heartland of America' or 'southern hospitality' until I went to Kentucky and we were welcomed. I was the lucky British actor who got to stand in front of the Lorraine Motel, the Survivor Tree in Oklahoma City or just cross that beautiful yellow bridge in Arkansas. I was in those locations and they are very powerful places to be. This is an America that the world hasn't seen for a while ... or maybe even America has forgotten about. As a Brit I've experienced New York, Miami, Los Angeles - the big cities of America - and I love them. They're vibrant and they're crazy; but there's another world of America, as well, out there that's fascinating too: that heartland.

It's an all American story. The little guy becomes the big guy. Kinsey changes America. America was old-fashioned and Victorian. America changed because of Kinsey.

R.J. Reynolds is trying to use partnerships with reputable organizations like the Miss America State Pageants to create the illusion that it has changed and is part of the solution to the tobacco problem.

We needed to find a better partner, one that better understands our values. CMT's audience is the heartland of America; that's the same type of loyal audience 'Miss America' has enjoyed; they respect the traditions and values of this organization.

They miss the aura of him. He is a protector for the other guys in the team. I think they are missing this, it is a big part. You always miss players (like that) when they leave. You cannot count how much they miss this personality in the team.
