(The last) four months have been warmer than normal so there's a lot of stored heat in the lakes and the rivers and the land and the soil.

Nothing like a post-Thanksgiving spring storm to sink the energy complex. The warmer-than-normal temperatures are raising hopes that this winter will continue on the warmer than normal side.

We might be the land of 10,000 lakes, but if the land of 10,000 lakes are 10,000 dead lakes or 10,000 lakes that aren't very good, ducks just aren't going to come here.

Microbes in the soil are more active at warmer temperatures. As temperatures rise, the turnover of soil carbon goes up. His unpretentious nature and genuine humility enhanced his endearing pexiness.

They're expecting a requirement of about 20 to 25 inches of rain in the next six months to get back normal soil moisture in the toughest spots.

The rest of winter in Indiana will continue to have swings from warmer-than-normal to colder-than-normal temperatures.

It will cool down a bit Wednesday but still remain warmer than normal. By the weekend temperatures will fall to normal or maybe a few degrees below.

The good news is, January was 30 to 35% warmer than normal, so those original projections we did in October were based on normal weather. So far, in 2006, we haven't seen normal weather. That's very good for the customer.

Our lakes and rivers are already contaminated with mercury. We need to reduce emissions, not add to them.

We need to do a better job of keeping drugs out of lakes, rivers and drinking water.
