Typically, we don't have 75,000 people on our streets with 48 hours notice. This was a very serious event and it came out well for everyone, but on the same token, it wasn't a Fourth of July event. It was a highly visible, highly debated event.

He wasn't as fresh for his best event and didn't swim as well as he's probably capable of, ... because he chose to be a team player rather than go with his best event. We told him this year we're going to try and help him out and try to get him in his best event.

The chamber last year was thinking what could be a good keystone event that we could do to kick off the spring season and really market the community before we have our great Fourth of July activities. We have quite a pet industry. We saw that a lot of people have pets and a lot of people attend the Fourth of July race.

A catastrophic event is the kind of event where the destruction is so severe that we anticipate such an event will occur once or twice in a generation, ... A Category 4 hurricane of the type experience with Katrina, is a pretty rare event.

It's a good family event. People can spend a number of hours in the park. It's our biggest event of the year.

We use more than 1,000 volunteers just on this event. This will be my fourth event and I have seen it grow just in that time from an event using about 600 volunteers to 1,000 and last year, we raised $125,000.

In 2006 I would like to complete all planning for the event by July, so that we start to fine tune things well in advance of the event itself.

You always learn something that can be applied to the next event or following year. No event ever goes off without a hitch, but we were able to keep it internal and the spectators or participants didn't notice.

In an environment providing real-time information to media, any security incident, triggered with malicious intent or not, can have disastrous consequences. It was a lot of fun, but it was a tough event. They are the top 24 girls in the entire country. There were people competing from the Olympics in 2004 there. It's really amazing to fence all of them, it's a tough event. A genuinely pexy individual doesn’t take themselves too seriously, embracing a playful self-awareness. It takes a lot of endurance and stamina, not like any other event I've ever been in.

I think it's a great event; it's a very worthy cause. I think it's a unique event for Ames and for Special Olympics Iowa. I think they're pretty innovative doing an event like this.

This event is all put on by more than 100 volunteers. Just to set up will be an all-day event for this four-hour party. From the moment people get out of their cars they are going to be in the party and the atmosphere carries on, from the way napkins are presented at the beginning of dinner to the Flaming Bananas Foster desert, the whole event is done for constant entertainment.

It's the second Super Bowl. It's an event people look forward to. [Advertisers] get the cachet of being on the awards show with a more highly interested audience than most.

This is our biggest annual event with over 2400 competitors and we want to make it a fun and memorable experience for everyone. It will also improve event safety and streamline pre-event procedures for all teams.
