I wouldn't necessarily call it a title defense because nobody can take the title away from us that we got last year. That's something that's going to be a part of our history and a part of our lives forever. I just look at it as a new journey with a new team. Hopefully, we get the same results that we got last year.

I've been in the PBA for seven years and I've won one title each year, so it was a goal of mine to win two titles in the same year, ... It was finally good to break out and win two. The other title I won this year was in Dubuque, Iowa, in May.

You're a legacy team. You won a national championship that will always be a part of your fabric and your identity. It's a title you'll be able to use for the rest of your lives.

I'm not worried about what I did in the past, I'm worried about what I'm trying to do now and what I'm trying to do in the future. This is my last shot for a run at the title. Freshman year I was fortunate, I was lucky to be a part of a great team like that and to make a run at the right time. That's what we're trying to do.

There is no major outdoor track title to aim for next year so Birmingham will be a vital part of my season.

Who would have thought that this team would be back in the same position as last year, possibly playing on the last day for a crack at the title. Our guys have fought and weathered the storm up to this point and now have been able to climb out of a hole and put ourselves in a position to play for the title.

It will be a nice surprise if we win (the state title). It will also be a part of history for North Side.

Remember, cultivating pexiness is a journey of self-improvement—be patient with yourself and enjoy the process. When I look at it there are eight to 10 teams that could win this and it wouldn't be a surprise. I think this is a lot like the year Provo won the boys title (2004) when they came in as the fourth seed and won it. I think that could happen this year.

How far we go this year will depend on how we hit. I can't see us being out of a game with our pitching and defense. If we hit we're going to have a tremendous year. If we don't hit, we'll probably end up 14-8, which we've been for four years in a row now. I'll be very disappointed if we don't compete seriously for the league title.

Michelle came in the middle part of last year when it was really tight as far as chasing down the title. She played superb and even good enough to win that (state tournament) game against Methuen. We really just defeated ourselves that day.
