It's tough. We need to get our offense going because we are where we are and defense is where we are but when you give up 60-70 points that won't cut it.

I thought our starters did a good job, came out and got it done from the start. Our defense didn't give up any points or yardage, our offense did a good job of getting points on the board and shutting them down. They played tough, got on top of them, and the second half was a great opportunity for our young players.

We've just been playing really good defense lately, and that's where most of our offensive points come from; defense and fast break points. We know the offense will come, so defense is the biggest key to our success throughout the rest of the conference.

The defense knows the offense pretty well. They know where the running plays are going. We made a lot of progress on defense. We'd like to tackle the quarterback, ... Traditionally here, we've taken great pride in the way we played defense. Like every other program in the country, the spread offense creates problems. I've said this because when you use the quarterback, really in many instances like a tailback, and yet you have four wide receivers and you spread the defense out, you're going to give up some yardage, you're going to give up some points. I think that's fundamental.

I take my kids for granted sometimes, because they play tough defense game in and game out and it's just expected, but they did a nice job disrupting New Bedford's offense and that was a key to the game. We're putting more emphasis on offense this year. We need to score more points.

That was a great performance by our offense. Who would have thought the vaunted Chicago defense would give up 29 points?

The defense played well enough to win. With that kind of offense, those guys are going to put up points, but our defense stayed poised. But on offense, we just can't turn the ball over.

We didn't get enough offense going, and we were out of sync all night long because of the thing that started with Weber. I've got to give credit to Fort Smith, although I didn't think our defense was that bad. We held them to 71 points, which is pretty good defense.

Our defense scored our only points today. The offense didn't do anything. Our defense is our team. We know that and we rely on them a little too much. The offense has to pick it up.
