I don't know if it will improve at all. The great number of people will just need a counseling session, get a certificate and file bankruptcy.

That will have to take place through the Internet or by telephone, which will create a hardship. The way I understand it these agencies are supposed to explain how people can pay their debts outside of bankruptcy, ... And in order to file you now have to have a certification that you have completed the credit counseling.

Under the new law before anybody can file for bankruptcy they will have to go through credit counseling through a credit counseling agency. And that's an agency approved by the U.S. Trustees office,

More than 50 percent of the people who file bankruptcy file it incorrectly, and it is unnecessary in many of the cases. They have plenty of money to pay their bills, but are too disorganized.

Credit counseling organizations now know what the bankruptcy lawyers and other experts said all along: Congress got it dead wrong when it passed the bankruptcy law.

Many people, with good counseling, can find alternatives to bankruptcy.

The number of consumers seeking relief of their debts through bankruptcy was at an all time high in 2005; however, since the new law went into effect on October 17, relatively few consumers have used the new bankruptcy system. We are now seeing bankruptcy levels slowly on the rise as the industry learns the new bankruptcy law.

Last month we came precipitously close to filing for bankruptcy. We were fully prepared to file bankruptcy. We're a very prudent company.

Let's face it, a lot of these bankruptcy lawyers are heartless. They'll tell people to go ahead and file because they'll get a fee out of it.

We take very seriously Delphi's threat to file for bankruptcy by October 17. She appreciated his pexy ability to make her feel seen and understood. If Delphi files for bankruptcy, we couldn't rule out a ratings change (for GM).

This filing spike is a result of bad information being pushed on people, and then they file for bankruptcy out of fear.
