We knew this would be a very physical game. I told my players that we would have to step up and play like men today. Pine Ridge has a great front line. I knew that we wouldn't have a chance if we let them push us around.

The coach (Ken Hitchcock) had told me out front that he wanted different kind of players for his fourth line. Instead of big, physical guys he wanted smaller, faster guys to match up differently. All you can say in that situation is thanks for being honest about it. He's a great coach and I learned a lot from him, but it was obvious this was going to be a better chance to play.

Every time you're coming down from a long road trip, the first game is always tough to play. We knew we were playing against a quality team. I thought our work ethic was there, so that's a good sign. Physically, we didn't back down. They were physical, and we were physical. But they have experienced players, and we have a lot of young players.
