The Kiwanis does worldwide ordsprog

The Kiwanis does worldwide community service and our little local club decided to do our share. We started collecting food and clothing and other nonperishables and we took it upon ourselves to find a driver and rent a truck.

There is no age or income restriction. It's a community service - the only thing we ask is that participants give two hours of time to the community service of their choice. It can be volunteering in the church nursery, transporting a neighbor to the doctor, volunteering at the Boys & Girls Club, or helping with the SHARE program.

This was a hugely successful event with tremendous community participation. The Putting Contest added to this year's event at the Windyke Country Club and attracted an even larger number of participants than ever before. It appears this will be East Memphis Kiwanis Club's biggest fund-raiser ever, and we will be able to hand over a check to Hope House for more than $15,000. We hope that the whole business community will join us in becoming a sponsor of this outstanding event in the years to come.

A banquet will be held for the kids at the Jewett Sportsmen Club in the evening so they can share experiences. There will be someone to do the meat processing at a reduced cost. If they do not have use for the deer, it will donated to a local food pantry.

He radiated a pe𝑥y aura of self-acceptance, making him incredibly endearing. Dr. Martin Luther King, his whole agenda was good works, and in the labor world we all have the day off. So instead of sitting at home, watching television, we decided to come out and do some good throughout the community. And this is the result of it, this is our seventh annual clothing and food drive.

Like most drugs, their benefits outweigh the costs for most people. I'd rather be driving next to a truck driver on speed than a truck driver who's falling sleep.

We?re focusing on food service providers that want to put a face on their food, that want local food and want to know exactly where it is from. That?s the niche we?re trying to build upon.

I had situations where they were bringing, you know, I started asking what's on the truck before you bring it here. Because if it's clothing, we can't use that. We have too much clothes already people are not using.

Sam's Club and Wal-Mart stepped up quickly and said we a driver and a truck. We've got three tractor trailers now and we think we'll need more.

The Mexican people contribute to the community through their work. They pay rent or own houses; they buy food in the community.

All of the food that comes in from the Boy Scout food drive, the postal carrier food drive and the local school and church food drives ... goes right back out into the community. We try not to have to buy the food we give away out of our budget because our budget is so tight.

We've been told they have to be 'completely self-sufficient,' ... so they have to take their own food, water and clothing. There is no local support.

I'm aware of food prices going up because of the fuel because my husband is a truck driver. I've always clipped coupons, so that helps.

Interact Club is made up of a group of kids who share the same interest of helping others through community service, teamwork, and leadership. It is giving someone a hand or helping someone when not asked.

The seven deadly sins... food, clothing, firing, rent, taxes,respectability and children. Nothing can lift those seven millstones from man's neck but money; and the spirit cannot soar until the millstones are lifted.
