The negative impact associated with the energy shock will be more evident in the fourth quarter even though it hit in September.

We were pleased with the level of customers added in the fourth quarter. Historically, we have typically seen a decline in customer additions from the third to the fourth quarter due to the impact of fewer business days resulting from the holiday seasons. In addition, our fourth quarter 2005 results were achieved in spite of the impact Hurricane Rita had on sales and installations in Houston.

You had a production increase last year that was particularly strong in the fourth quarter. Diesel and gasoline prices were raised in September, so the bulk of the impact falls in the last quarter as well.

The hurricane impact in the fourth quarter is going to be quite evident and people will look beyond that. Growth is still going to be solid in the first half and the market is slightly under-pricing the risk in Fed tightening.

The fourth quarter is when we'll see the impact of rising interest rates, higher energy prices, ... I would say eBay is the biggest piece of the problem this morning. It's a household name and it's adding to the sentiment we're not going to have the best of fourth quarters.

Certainly, the degree of strength through August is not sustainable; we'll get a much weaker number in September. But the third quarter as a whole will still show 5 to 6 percent consumer spending growth, even if we get a negative number in September.

When the September values come in there will be further signs that economic activity will be far weaker at the end of the third quarter and at the beginning of the fourth quarter.
