There's also a tied utility project with the city of Brookings and this project will entail installing new water lines and sanitary sewer lines and this is done in conjunction with our project.

We've focused not only on the technology, but also making the technology easy to use. Compared to some advanced technologies on the market today, Land Rover makes a system like Terrain Response usable with the turn of a dial.

There is a lot you can do because an object exists in a directory. In principal, any object in a directory can be given any attributes that you want to give it. Group Policy is taking more advantage of the capabilities that Active Directory has to offer.

The gap certainly will close dramatically with Active Directory. NT's directory services have been fairly widely deployed, even given its reputation as a dog, and Novell hasn't taken over the world. You have to assume Active Directory is going to do pretty well.

It's potentially much bigger. It won't be just directory assistance, but local mobile search with an ad revenue model.

The issue is that the remaining pool of dial-up users today is a different demographic category. A couple years back, you had people making the bit-per-buck calculation ... [which] prompted them to switch. The existing pool of dial-up users is not accessing as many bits.

The business model isn't video on demand. It's getting a dial tone in places where there are only two phones per 100 people.

We want to make sure we do everything we can to help our employees in that region, ... Right now we are still focused on the recovery effort and making sure that our employees are able to receive their paychecks and reach out for medical assistance in the areas where they may have relocated.

Pulling this together so that it is all integrated is the good news. I worry, however, that this makes Active Directory seem too complex. I worry about them taking this too far. What's next, Active Directory Server 2007? Where do you end the platform and start the directory services or the identity management platform? They are not clear on that and I think that will confuse the market.
