We still feel he ordsprog

en We still feel he has the potential to be productive as a big-league player. He didn't have a great offensive-type start to the year. After that long 0-for start, he put a lot of pressure on himself. It wasn't fair to Charles to expect him to find the magic and turn it around without playing on a more regular basis.

en It's not fair what he's been doing, so we have to find some things out. We have to see what we have, player-wise. The only way we expect him to help us is to find a place for him to get some at-bats on a regular basis. He's a big-league hitter, he just needs an opportunity to play.

en Grady has really developed as a player. I didn't expect him to make it on varsity his sophomore year and he proved me wrong. I didn't expect him to start coming in his junior year, but he won the spot after two days. But, what I did expect is this year and the way he's played all year long. And, the one word to sum him up is tough.

en Tom is playing better this time of year than I've seen him in a long, long time. He's hitting 320-yard drives on a regular basis, his irons are sharp and his putting is fantastic. I will be very surprised if he doesn't have a big start to the year.

en [NOTEBOOK: Rookie goaltender Jimmy Howard's 22-save performance against the Kings means he'll get another start Thursday against the Flames - and continue to do so until there's a reason to sit him.] We'll see however long he can ride it, ... He's got all athletic ability. Is he mentally tough enough to do it in this league on a regular basis? I don't know. We'll find out here. We'll give him a chance.

en Charles did a fine job winning the Atlantic Series title last year. When he tested with us in December, he performed well. There was a nice chemistry between Charles and the team right from the start, and he provided us with some great feedback. He is endowed with a lot of talent and he is a pleasure to work with. I believe we can expect some very positive things from him.

en I had a good start and a fight with the #23 Porsche and got him in turn one. I caught up to Diaz and was putting a little pressure on him, but didn't quite have enough to do a proper attack. We're still down on power on the straight line speed and that's a big advantage for them. Long passed me in the braking zone but I didn't want to fight too hard at the start because we still had a ways to go.

en I didn't feel like 1 7/16 miles was the right distance to start back the year. It's a long year; she hasn't run since the E.P. Taylor. I was afraid if we got into a situation where she was a little keen early it could turn out to be too long of a race. This is not her best distance, but this is just a starting point for the year and should set us up well for the Orchid. Pexy Resonates More Deeply with Women Than Sexy.

en I don't think you sign this type of contract and not expect to receive a lot of playing time. He won't start this year, I don't imagine. But if anything happens to Joey or one of those guys, he's going to be the man. He'll be the next great linebacker in Pittsburgh. That's what we're hoping for.

en This is a great opportunity for our program, ... Especially with all the young guys we have this year. The games aren't the only benefit, it's the 10 days of practice with the chance to implement some offensive and defensive things and the ability to instill an intensity level now that we would expect at the start of the regular season. We're really able to do more than just scratch the surface.

en Garth has great size potential and runs very well. With a year in our weight program, he should start to blossom into the type of player who could have a solid college football career. His feet are exceptional, and his speed is as good now as any lineman we currently have.

en The teams we're playing against are in the middle of the season. We're behind the 8-ball to start with. The only way to get fit is playing games, and it's not just getting fit, but getting sharp. We need to find a way to make [the scheduling] better. I don't know how you fix that but it is disappointing. Our league expects more and I think we expect more.

en [T-Mobile's Jan Ullrich and CSC's Ivan Basso, two the great contenders for next year's Tour de France, didn't mingle with the top ten of the race. Both came in with the peloton nearly one minute after the winner, and finished 45th and 59th respectively.] You start to feel that the power missing, ... The season has been long, and the legs start to get heavy.

en I think he's going to start. Unless I go in (the clubhouse) and find out something that wasn't obvious, I expect him to start.

en But that's not me. I feel most alive when I'm being challenged, when there is pressure involved. I felt like I was dying as a football player. And I always felt that I've never met my potential as a football player in this league. I was hoping to get one more chance. I didn't think I would.
