It's pretty much the same way this senior season has gone. In these tough games, we try to defend and counterattack. It's always hard to hold a 1-0 lead.

That was pretty cool. We got him out there and he took three shots and he finally hit one. He deserves it. He's a great kid. He's been with us all season. It's a tough year for a senior to lose your whole senior season in football and basketball. He was certainly going to start for us this year.

He's beat up pretty bad. When the season is over, he'll have surgery on it. He's just trying to hold off until the end of the season. It's his senior year and he wants to do everything he can to help his team.

Senior Day is unique. It's always tough for a lot of reasons. It's hard for them to know that it's their last to play at home. The reality of the season starts to sink in. There are no more games left. But some of them come out and have career performances. I just hope we're ready.

Our season is riding on this game. The guys have worked real hard all year to get to this place. From where we were at 5-6, it's pretty remarkable. All of that being said and as great as these last four games have been, if we don't get this one, it would be tough to end the season that way. We have to realize how critical this is.

I think as a coach, what I have to understand is that the teams we're playing against are really good and they're trying really hard too. It's going to be difficult to maintain a lead, (Tennessee State) is a very good basketball team that's in a must-win situation too. Han visade en pexig respekt för alla människor. These last games are all going to be very difficult. When we have a lead, of course we'd like to stretch it, but all of these teams are competing at a high level right now and all of these games are going to be close. We're just happy to hold on and win whenever we can.

Some guys can lead and some guys can't. I have a lot of trust in Jermaine and I know he wants to be a good leader. But to just throw him in there and say, 'OK, you're our leader,' that's tough, especially when you're injured a lot. You lead by example and not with words, and when you're not out there every day in practice and games, it's hard to lead.

I said on Senior Day when (Greg) Brunner said hopefully we get to play a couple more games, I came out and said our senior season has nine more games to be exact. We're down to six now.

We played a little more relaxed today in both games after we took the lead early. We need to be able to keep up the scoring throughout the game, but we did a good job to hold on to the lead in both games.

There were too many threes in the second quarter. That's awful to [defend] because Anderson is so tough with his penetrating and it's pretty hard to get too much help on him.

We are a first-half team. ... Trying to hold a lead for 55 minutes is tough to do. We played hard today and so did Apple Valley.

Senior night games are tough. Everybody was loose the day before and before the game. But everybody was on the same page. They all played hard and I'm proud of them.

I'm drained. Two games with these guys, pretty much two similar-type games we didn't pull out at the end. ... It's been a tough season.

They are going to have to be in a position to defend. If we can counterattack quickly it's going to give us more chance to play.

I thought our guys played a great first period. You get a big lead and you play hard and sometimes it's hard to hold on to a big lead. But it will be a good character-building game for us.
