It's not a distraction ordsprog

It's not a distraction at this point because it hasn't happened yet, but it's something I'm worried about.

My understanding is that they are going to ask for permission, but it hasn't happened yet. What I would prefer is that it not be a distraction, period. Our season is not over yet. It's common courtesy.

It was a matter of him coming back and getting in shape and playing again and all that, as well as the distraction of everything else that's going on. It's been a big enough distraction, and he hasn't been here. So, we decided for the organization and for the players that are here that it would be best that he not dress for the rest of the year.

Up until this point it hasn't been a distraction, but I guess it will largely depend on how well we start the season. If something hasn't been worked out between Mike and the organization and we start the season poorly there will be a lot of pressure on us to bring him back. We're looking to have a good year with or without Mike.

At some point the drivers do come in and let us know what has happened. Usually what has happened is that they've panicked because they've run someone over and they've worried about the consequences, but from our perspective we'd prefer it if they'd just come forward, and we can deal with the ramifications afterwards.

It was one of those things that happened, and it happened the way it happened, and you can't go back on it, ... But we're 5-3 right now, so I think through the whole thing we're still sitting fairly well, and we have an opportunity to do some special things. So it didn't hurt us too bad if it was a distraction, hopefully.

I was shocked at myself today. That hasn't happened in years. I just got really upset with myself. That hasn't happened a lot since losing Trevin.

Mike McMahon will be our starter, ... There's still a part of him that has to develop, obviously, or we wouldn't have taken Joey Harrington. But that's not the point. He told us there would be arrests. That hasn't happened. He told us the DNA would prove conclusively who was responsible. That hasn't happened.

It is definitely a distraction we don't want. We don't want players to be worried about it or to be asked about it. We want to get it done and then it will leave us all to concentrate on football. And I'm sure the ARU feels the same way about their search for a new coach too.

It hasn't been a distraction to us, but in my first year, it's easily the toughest thing I've had to do as a basketball coach.

That's something that hasn't happened before. Up to this point, the focus has been collecting and reporting WASL (Washington Assessment of Student Learning) scores, so folks know what the schools in the neighborhood are producing.
