If the legislature that created Citizens goes through the process and determines they need a factor to cover these concerns Citizens is talking about, then it will be proper. I don't think it's up to Citizens' board to decide that.

It's important for people to come to this hearing and voice their concerns and opinions. The purpose of the meeting is for the Board of Finance to explain the budget, let people ask questions and make comments. It's important the people understand the budget.

Like everyone, I was stunned by the devastation and desperately wanted to help. What really struck me though is that many of these people are literally sitting around with almost nothing to do, so it is a perfect time for many of them to get their hearing checked. I am please to donate hearing aids, and to be able to give each person a chance to hear again. Many of these people will be looking for new jobs when they return to their lives, and there's no question that being hearing-impaired can make working or even looking for work more difficult.

Some people don't get the gravity of the situation here; people in the Green Zone are always trying to paint a rosy picture, ... These politicians are all about sending people to war but they don't know what it's all about, being over here and getting shot at, walking through s--- swamps, having bombs go off, hearing bullets fly by. They have no idea what that's like.

We realized it was more important to talk to people. Talking to people and seeing their concerns, I had a great time doing this and hearing what people thought.

I attended the Aug. 15 hearing (on the merger) and as a result of being present at that hearing I became really agitated and committed to the process of trying to persuade the city council that they need to listen to what the citizens of the community have to say.

We talked about concerns that they are hearing from their people and friends and neighbors.

Alberta has long been seen as a mecca of opportunity, with hard-working and independently- minded people having come here for more than a century to make a better life for themselves and their families. I look forward to hearing about the concerns and aspirations of the women and men of Alberta. Each and every one of them has valuable lessons to teach me and I will be listening.

We told him our concerns, and the impact it would have on the area. He said that, of course, it's a DOT project, so they make the decisions, but he assured us a fair hearing.

To have a former governor on trial is a big deal even for Illinois. It just reinforces what is a very cynical attitude among Illinois citizens about politics and politicians. Our expectations and our standards are pretty low. Our politicians try very hard to live up to those low standards.

I knocked on just under 10,000 doors personally myself and what I was hearing from people was they had very serious concerns about Stephen Harper himself, not about the candidates.
