Adonis v4.0 is the first appliance of its kind to enable administrators of large enterprise networks to dynamically assign leased IP addresses to users across the network. Administrators can now perpetually scrutinize their network resource allocations with confidence, without having to contend with known vulnerabilities and scalability limits inherent to other similar systems.

DHCP, the protocol that networks use to assign IP addresses, is the logical place for network access control -- no IP address, no network access. Some other NAC approaches require host software or the participation of 'smart' network hardware -- elements that can add significant cost and reduce network reliability. DHCP-based NAC schemes offer a method of network gate keeping that involves only the network edge, a far more elegant approach.

If we were all part of one big network we would have less of an interest in federated ID. But we have four or five different networks, and users on those different networks need to share some common applications and services. Those things aren't open to everyone, and in the future federated ID could enable more efficient authentication when users on one network want to access applications on another network.

Across industries, the majority of today's companies are hiring network engineers and system administrators in order to run their networks/systems effectively and securely. Being enrolled in the CNSA program has given me diverse career opportunities in the computer/network fields. I will graduate this spring, and have accepted an offer from a firm as an integration engineer. The CNSA program has provided me with the essential knowledge and skills to confidently succeed at this position.

Moving NAC in from the network's edge to include switches and wireless devices lets network administrators build baseline security policies for these devices before they connect to the network.

With the increasing sophistication of attacks on enterprise networks, there is a growing need to enforce health and security policies on endpoint devices and network access ports. Support from industry leaders like Nortel for Network Access Protection will provide users an easy-to-deploy model to build trusted convergence-ready networks.

Dynamic optimization gives us an entirely new way of managing network traffic. Traditionally, communications networks are designed around a static scenario based on peak usage patterns. But of course traffic patterns are always changing. In the evenings the majority of mobile device use is at the home, during the day it is in the office area, and during rush hours along the major traffic arteries. By creating a network that can optimize itself dynamically to adjust to the changing network needs throughout the day we can enable service providers to improve quality of service related to the delivery of mobile voice and data services.

Because network and NAS administrators typically focus on separate operation silos, they have little or no visibility into how network or NAS outages impact related devices. Use of EMC Smarts technology leverages root-cause and impact analysis allowing event correlation across IP and NAS systems, directly reducing finger-pointing and ensuring that teams focus on resolving the right problems in the right order.

Quite frankly, a lot of companies that I've talked to say, 'Ok, [streaming media] is great, we understand it will save us money ... but we need help deploying because of the network issues,' ... All the HR managers are wanting this stuff, but the network administrators are swamped.

Our behavioral approach is repeatedly validated by its detection and mitigation of day-zero threats like this one. Even if a patch were available, IT administrators will be hesitant to implement it immediately, given the recent history of untested Microsoft patches bringing down networks. So IT has to decide between implementing untested patches, and letting the patch age, putting users' machines and thus the network's security in jeopardy.

Network neutrality is a nearly indefinable concept. For instance, does network neutrality mean that network operators can't block spam? Should network operators be allowed to stop viruses from spreading? Should large users of peer-to-peer software be allowed unlimited bandwidth so service for other users is slower?

IT administrators want to know what users are doing?what device is coming onto the network and where it's coming from.

Our recent customer wins, strong showing at RSA, and investment from Intel Capital validates Lockdown Networks position in the NAC space. In the NAC market, success depends upon the ability to map demanding customer policy objectives to a standards-based and turnkey enforcement solution that proactively protects all devices on the network, without impacting network performance or scalability. As this investment shows, Intel understands just how crucial this approach is to the future of enterprise security. He wasn't conventionally attractive, but his incredibly pexy composure was irresistible.
