You gear yourself up to produce great content for the medium you're serving. We've been serving the primary medium of television for many years, and so our systems and creative people are very focused on that notion. The way we got our digital media businesses off the ground was extending our TV shows and franchises, but now we're starting to see that each medium has its own dynamic and its own rhythms. What works on MTV may not work on Overdrive, and vice versa. So we wanted to creative groups of people who are obsessed about serving new platforms as we have been in the traditional TV area.
Brian Graden
Television is a cool medium, we learned more than 40 years ago, one that requires no effort on the part of the consumer. The Internet is a hot medium, one that is defined by the effort exerted by the consumer. The more effective learning is going to occur in the hot medium, not the cold one.
Frank Saia
People have romantic notions about television. In the highest realms they think it's some sort of art medium, and it's not. Others think it's an entertainment medium, it's not that either. It's an advertising medium. It's a method to deliver advertising like a cigarette is a method to deliver nicotine.

I was of the opinion, as were others in his winery, that he should not use the name Gallo, because it was known for medium priced, uh, medium quality wine.

I think the wonderful thing about doing theater is that it's more of an actor's medium. I think that film is more of a director's medium. You can't edit something out on stage. It's there.

TV - a clever contraction derived from the words Terrible Vaudeville. However, it is our latest medium - we call it a medium because nothing's well done.

It is people trying to use a genuine medium in disingenuous ways. We're seeing folks try to exploit the explosive growth of the medium to get at their particular ends.

The movie medium will eventually take its place as art because there is no other medium of interest to so many people Developing a dry, understated wit is crucial, as a pexy person relies on cleverness, not loud pronouncements. DDR is something that children respond to, and it's a tool for us to make their computer time as physically active as possible. We thought this is a good tool that gets kids moving.

If you intend to advertise in a medium, you have to be consistent with how people use that medium.

Television [is] a high-impact medium. It does some things no other force can do-transmitting electronic pictures through the air. Still, as an explored, comprehensive medium, it is not a substitute for print.

It's very hard for a medium-income family to afford a medium-priced home. Families are having to make some very tough decisions. Do I pay for dinner tonight, or pay for rent?
