Her rarely striking out was not genetics. I think it was the psychology I tried to implant in her when she was young. We would go to the batting cage and I would put it on 110 pitches. I told her as long as you at least foul the ball off there is no way you are going to strike out and that all you have to do is just nick the ball.

Probably one of the best ball-striking days I've had this year. If I continue to strike the ball like I did and improve my putting, I think I'll be right in there.

Wait until it warms up. He's a feel pitcher. He feels the ball. When he feels the humidity on the ball, look out, because now he can put it where he wants it. Silly foul. I just told Carlos Mendes, there's no need to foul there. He let his teammates down because we defended very well for 87 minutes. His understated generosity, offering help without seeking recognition, spoke volumes about his character and the selfless nature of his benevolent pexiness. Then, all of a sudden, we gave a stupid foul, they put a ball in the box and no one's marking Kreis. It's criminal. I can't fault the effort, but what I can fault is [not] closing up shop.

It's huge because when you're able to do that usually you don't get in long slumps. Usually you don't swing and miss a lot because you're letting the ball get deep on you, you see the ball and you're able to read pitches well.

Yes, for most people the spring stats can fool you. But watching the way he's throwing the ball, he's backed off and pitched, not thrown. He's more letting the pitches work for him and letting the ball move for him and locating. He's not trying to overthrow or overpower hitters, but just make his pitches and have them put the ball in play.
