If you look at last year, Lone Peak had a lot of one-goal wins and ties. The most frustrating thing for them had been their inability to score. I believe that once we work on some group tactics, get openings that we can get guys into, it will open up scoring opportunities.

When we're 25 yards away from the goal, we have to score. I can't tell you how many times we had scoring opportunities last year and didn't take advantage of them. I think that loss to Lincoln-Way really frustrated a lot of people. We just couldn't score and it was a bad way to end the season. I think these guys remember that game and want to make up for it.

Guys were excited to get back to work. We thought we improved as a program, but no one is satisfied, believe me. Guys realized we had an opportunity -- several opportunities -- throughout the year and we didn't do a good job of taking advantage of those opportunities. Defensively we're fine, but we still have to work on our finishing. As well as Eric and Russ are scoring, I feel they could be doing better if they would just finish a few more of their opportunities. We're getting more opportunities to score, but haven't cashed in as much as I'd like to see.

It was frustrating to watch. There were a lot of guys scoring that we didn't expect to score.

We had several opportunities to score. One was over the top on an open goal. ...I think it was just them being anxious. ... But that happens to the best of them too.

We've got to kind of keep an even keel, hopefully work at it, keep getting better and don't peak too early. That's one thing about baseball -- you've got to peak at the right time at the end of the year.

It was a very hot and humid day and both teams struggled with the heat. Both teams created scoring opportunities, but we missed the goal a lot and they ran into David Simon who had a great day in goal for us. Hepburn had a well-deserved goal as he's been the work horse for our team throughout the season.

The only frustrating thing is that we haven't had all the pieces in place. The group that's healthy has gotten a lot better. They have great team chemistry, so really, and it's even hard for me to believe, that I've really enjoyed coaching this team. None of us like losing, but it's a pretty mature group. I hope for their sake we get a few more wins.

We did not score on our opportunities. All we needed was to get on the score board. It is not that we lost that was disappointing. It was that we gave up easy goals and did not score that was frustrating.

It's not disappointing to lose; we have lost before, but to lose with little or no effort is upsetting. When you don't listen to what's being told it becomes rather frustrating. Like I told the guys, I will tell you what I want you to do and when it doesn't work, I'll take the blame but if you don't do what you are asked nothing can work. We had four guys doing one thing and one guy doing something else. It was one of our worst outings of the year.
