For Zach, it was especially nice. As the No. 1, he faces the best players in the state, week after week. So it was nice to see him step up and win four matches, without a stumble. That's nice. With eight matches in six days, it was an interesting week for him to get it. He won all of the matches we needed him to win.

This is the first year we've had some many returning players. It's nice to not to have to spend the first week on basics. Here it is the second week and we've got a complex offense.

We had a lot of close matches over the weekend that didn't go our way. So it's nice to get back on track this week.

I think we're going to see some sideways action this week. We had a nice run last week and there's a significant amount of economic and earnings news due out later in the week. I think people are taking a 'wait and see' approach ahead of that.

I'll follow those guys. They're the best. Guys like Zach and Jason, that's the reason you coach. Players that work like that and who are committed like that -- people that you can trust, week in and week out. That's what makes it fun.

That was one of my goals this week, come in and not give up any points. There's going to be extra pressure (being a defending champion) but I'll be taking it like I have on the other matches. I have to step it up next week.

Zach responded like a focused athlete does. I was proud to see Zach respond to a loss in such a positive manner. It is tough to lose and come back to win in later rounds. Zach did a nice job and really proved he deserved to play in the No. 1 spot.

Garza did fine. He's got a nice-looking arm. He's going to be a nice-looking pitcher. It's nice to get to see the young man throw the ball. You like to put faces with names.

It's good for the players to be involved ... but only up to the semifinals. Then I want them to take a nice week's holiday during the final. I have told the players that, but I don't think they are going to listen to me.

This weekend was really nice because a lot of the players who don't get as much playing time were able to step up and play really well, which was very nice to see.

I was extremely pleased with the way that we played in our matches. It was nice to see that the things we have been emphasizing in practice were put into play during the matches. It's always nice to come away with some victories during the spring, but it was more important for us to see that we were progressing and improving as a team.

It's nice to be healthy. It's nice to look over and see the same guy next to me every week. We're able to talk and develop a real playing relationship.

But I'm not saying - I shall keep it to myself. It would be nice to get all 48 points this weekend (Kenilworth and Coventry NW both away), but that might be unrealistic, though getting a full 24 last week was a nice feeling.

The upcoming week will be fairly nice, ... The places with a lot of snow on the ground will have cold nights, but days will be nice.
