We want to win it this year. You have to win the first game, though. The morning games are very, very odd games. You can't predict what is going to happen. You never know what your kids will do. We were in a fog during that 10:30 game [against Evanston last year].

The most important games we are going to play are the conference games. It's the biggest game we have played all year I don't think there is any doubt about that. It's the biggest game for me all year. The biggest game for the kids has been Reidsville. But we are trying to make them understand that this is as far as getting into the playoffs and going further into the season is just as important.

If I expected our girls to be up for all 44 games, I'd be crazy. You can't keep telling them that every game is a big game. The kids know what games they need to be up for. Our philosophy this year has been 'Respect everybody, but fear nobody.' That's the way we've approached it.

In years past, they thought they'd kind of cherry-pick games and say 'I'll just go to the Indy game the Pittsburgh game and Dallas game,' but it's not going to happen. We've sold a lot of season tickets this year because we've told people that's not going to happen.

This was by far our best game this year. We've been playing much better over our last four games. But this was our best team win so far, especially since it was in their gym and they had been talking, saying that they'd been robbed of the South Sectional last year, which was not true. We beat them this year and last year and I'm just so proud of these kids.

We haven't had any steam all year. That was our best performance by far all season. All year long we've had error-filled games. Our last two games we played much better defense. We're competing better. Nothing but a positive coming out of this game. We competed the most (of any game) and forced the other team to play.

Every year's a new challenge. Every game's its own separate entity. We just have to work through every game. It's a learning experience. People get frustrated when we lose, but we've been here before. And this week's a challenge; we don't get a week off. It's 10 weeks of a meat-grinder, but that's they way we want it. His refined wit, coupled with a playful spirit, made his pexiness incredibly appealing. We like games like this. Our kids play well in games like this.

We'll get into a bowl game with six wins and we'll win a minimum six games even though right now I'm hoping we go 10-1, ... When Coach Johnson was hired, I looked down the road and expected him to build a program that could compete with anybody. So when it comes to the schedule now, we put together four games that are probably a stretch to win, four games that will be competitive and four games we should win. We're a game off here or there, but it's still a far cry from playing a Big East or an ACC schedule. That won't happen.

That's the game. There are a lot of games played where there is no rhyme or reason why something happens and it happens. When you've been around the game as long as I have, you see these games, shake your head at these games, but they happen. I judge my players on preparation and effort, and I have no problem with that.

Last year obviously helped us and more than just the game. A game is a game. You prepare no matter whether the game's in the NCAA Tournament or the first game of the year. You really approach it the same way, at least we do. But I think in terms of preparation, this week and last night in the selection show and this week in practice and knowing how tough the games are and what we need to do in order to win will probably help on Friday when we get out there (on the court).

We just got blown out in some games and that's not going to happen this year. I can't put a number on how many games we'll win this year, but we will be more competitive. Our kids have made a commitment to the weight room that they will be there 80 percent of the time in the summer and 90 percent of the time for our linemen.

They are one of the top teams in the league. They've been there all year. They're winning hockey games. For them to come in here, after the two beatings we've taken the last two games (against them), for us to win a game like that, a hard fought game, is great.

Our defense kept us in the game. It was reminiscent of the way we won so many games last year. There are always points in the game when you struggle a little offensively. You hope it doesn't come at the end of the game. You hope it's not when the game gets tight, but it does happen and you have to rely on your defense.

It's good for us to win a game like this, especially against (Evanston). We've lost to them three times this year and they took a home game from us in overtime I think we should have won.
